Alternative Gauge Power Sources??

Howdy All,

I just installed my AEM Boost Gauge and wired my power to the cig. lighter fuse, 15A in the cabin fuse box. I am about to order an AEM A/F Ratio Gauge and I am wondering how you guys and girls that have both gauges have them wired for power. Do you use both power wires wrapped around the same 15A fuse in the cabin fuse box or is there another 12v switch fuse that I can use. Thanks for the suggestions in advance. Have a great day.

how much power do the gauges pull? Figuring out total amp draw will tell you if both powered on a 15 Amp circuit will be ok

and use a fuse tap, don't just wrap around the fuse. wire both gauges in a daisy chain and use a single wire.

Will an add a fuse tape widen the fuse clamps in the cabin fuse box? And if possible do you have a picture of your multiple gauge power setup?

personally i wouldn't go to the fuse box. I would go to the 12v outlet in the console. Its fused at 15 Amps, wires will support 20 amps. Most things you plug into the outlet (besides small power inverters) wont pull more than 5 amps typically. So if your gauges, wired together, pull under 10 amps, you should be fine just splicing into 12v+ and ground at the 12v outlet. Just be sure to use a proper splicing technique. Ive included a few pics for reference. If you have any questions PM me.

as long as you are not pulling over 15 amps total you'll be fine

If the fuse is 15A then I would say that the wires are capable of only 7-10A on the long run..
I'm considering that I have a 16A main line at home running on 2.5mm2 wire.. that is quite thick

On a side note I don't think that 2 gauges (led lit?) a bunch of smd electronics and the WBO2 sensor will draw more than 15-25W. (If I remember well the Bosch sensor heating element is 10W)
