I would say in general that if you want to run your car mostly stock or just a few mods, that the Z-Chip would be a good alternative and for what appears to be a less expensive one when it is released.

For a little more cost the EcuTek tune can offer a few more parameters such as raised rev limiter, raised 2 step launch, and other things inside the ECU like Mivec control that can't be altered with a piggyback modification easily.

I think both can get very similar results on a stock or near stock car, but when you are adding bigger turbos and going beyond stage 3 bolt ons, the EcuTek option would seem to be the way to go even if it is more expensive.

I think it's great that we have so many different options available for many different needs, no reason to bash one another as they each fit their own client base. Great to see the results of a Stock X doing so well on just an EcuTek Tune and boost increase as it makes good use of the stock components! Once more Evo X owners ditch the stock turbo we'll start to see some bigger numbers out of these engines.

We don't have a Subaru section here, but if you really feel the need to tell your story on these forums, I recommend you use the Service, Parts, and Tuning Review forum here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/fo...ysprune=&f=176

I don't handle that section, and the local moderator can decide if your post has merit to EvoM or not. As far as this thread goes, it certainly does not, so I wouldn't recommend posting it again.
No problem i will have to get something posted in there. I thought that it would be an advantage to the community to know about it.

Please keep this on topic.. the discussion is not about whos dyno reads high or low.. Its about the final results of an Ivey Tuned Ecutek Evo X running 107mph trap speed w/ 0 mods.. Thanks!!

I would be more than willing to try the Z-CHIP on my car so there is an apples to apples comparison. I think that this would be able to prove how much power the Z-CHIP is actually making.

To be honest i think the car can go faster (E.T. and MPH) considering this was my
1st time at the track with this car and only made 3 runs.

Nice of you to step up and offer to Beta test the chip.. Thats awesome.. I have to agree you probably have more left in your car with more seat time.. Good luck!!

If i remember correctly CFT was the ones that helped propel your car to the e.t and trap speed it is at now.

By the way any thoughts of getting a X and see what it will do on stock internals.

I beleive he has used Al in the past for previous tunes when the car was lightly modded not at the Level its at now.. CFT did put the car in the 10's the 1st time they took it to the track with Brian on the most recent setup..

I think it would be a great oppurtuniy for TTP to put the Z chip out there and see what it does on my X compared to an ECUTEK flash. A totally unbiased test that would show its strengths or weakness.

I have to agree.. I guess get with Scott and see if he can get you the Z-chip to test out for him.. If it works as advertised, i am 100% positive his sales will go thru the roof for the chip.. If you cant get the chip ahead of time, ill buy it for you myself when its released in 3 weeks after SEMA and let you test it on your car.. Hows that sound?? My X is already too modded and i wouldnt be considered unbiased i am sure..

You have to remember that this is an IVEYTUNED EVO X.
Most tuners are not skilled enough to be able to pull this off. Smooth running with loads of power everywhere. That is why Sean is considered one of the best Evo tuners in the country and possibly the world.

I have seen some shops in CT that have blown up more than one of there motors in there X and there 08 STI. Believe it or not that is up to you but there are videos on youtube that will show the culprit that is responsible.

Why do you think that this shop does not have any more videos of there X or STI in action.

Actually we tuned his car to 125mph traps which have never been repeated anywhere by any other shop.

Our recent back to back dyno comparisons have shown that with a new oem turbo, meth injection, aem, custom intake and retune elsewhere, the car still made less power. Cft's dyno reads +3%hp and +9% tq.

We had an independant tuner take a car from here to there with no changes make the % offsets noted above.

This means 386whp on our dyno as done by Brian equaled 397+ at CFT which was a contributing factor to it running faster with us than it ever did anywhere else. We wish him the best of luck with the new engine and new sponsors. We only ask that the facts be allowed to be outlined in order to be fair.

FYI, Hova, I tuned Most Wanted's car way back in 2005 or 2006 when the IX's first started to come out and he had a basic Buschur Stage II with a then Tech Tom IX reflash - this was well before Ecu Flash. With a custom pump gas tune on race gas he went an amazing 11.56.

Lucky for me I was there at the Spring Nationals in Florida to watch him drive the car in a NHRA event.

Of course since those days he sold that car and bought another which has been worked on by a few different shops and he has continued to keep the passion for driving his Evo fast.
