is perrin just a place that makes maps for the AP? Sorry, but I don't know much about all of this, but i'm curious because I will likely be getting an AP for my X soon.

www.perrinperformance.com

No they make performance parts just like any other company. They are just one of the companies that support the AP and sell stage maps for it. I bought my FMIC and DP/HiFloCat Pipe from them excellent quality parts and awesome customer service. If you order soon you can get the 10% deal. So the AP will only cost ya around $610 instead of $699 and you get a free stage AP map with it of your chosing .

I've been lazy.

First dyno test is Cobb Stg 1 91 ACN map with stock intake on all stock X MR. Peak numbers show 256/266 (baseline of 226/249).

Second dyno test changed to Stg 1 93 map on same test day, same petrol. Peak numbers show 277/273.

Third was done on a different day with an AEM intake and the Stg 1 91 ACN map. Peak numbers show 284/297.

As you all know, peak numbers don't show the area under the curves or the boost onset changes that the graphs show. The driveability is much better with lots more torque and response off-the-line, so to speak. There is no need to change any partial launch parameters when there's this additional low-end torque available.

Anyone? I vaguely remember a thread on this, but I am having a hard time finding the exact answer. IIRC one map was slightly more aggressive than the other.

The Perrin map for the STI is more aggressive than the Cobb one, but I've yet to hear anything about the Perrin map for the Evo. Hoping to soon though...

Yeah, I'd be wary about buying the AP or maps from dynoflash. Check out this (closed) thread:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...-progress.html

From what I gathered, the OP still hasn't gotten the maps.

Nice numbers. Can't wait to see how much improvement can be achieved when Cobb releases the AEM intake specific map.

I am really torn between what to buy to be honest. I know that the AP is super easy to use and it is a great tool, but the Perrin stage 1 map only shows a 30-40 whp gain... compared to most custom tunes that's nothing. Many people are getting 70-100 whp sometimes just from a tune. Perhaps I am missing something... if so please feel free to correct me by all means. Is 30-40 whp really that impressive though? I understand we can create our own maps with the accesstuner race setup, but unless you want to do tons of reading and research, then there isn't much point.

BTW, I didn't see any 10% off deal on the site?

The difference is the word custom An off the shelf map has to be conservative since they have to account for differences in your car, gas, elevation, etc. With a custom tune the tuner can monitor your AFR, knocks, etc. and get the tune closer to the edge giving you more power.

I just bought my Cobb AP from Perrin and I'm stoked. I'll post up my dyno results as soon as I get it. They will be on a Dynocom.
