Has anyone notified someone at Perrin about these knocking issues?

Guys I think it is the gas. I am running a Perrin map with Speedway 92 and I have no knock during normal driving at all. During WOT pulls I have had one cell show a low low knock value ONE time. That is nothing.

I have had really bad luck with BP fuels, especially in the winter. My VIII would knock horribly on their gas. My friend and I were tuning his VIII last week and we did maybe 10-15 logs with zero knock...stopped to get some Shell 93 in the car and every log after that had 2-6 knock counts everywhere. Put some Speedway 92 in after that tank was burned up and back to no knock.

i just put sunoco 93 in today. previously had shell 93. and logged using the cobb stage 1 93 map and i logged up to 5 counts some as high as 3.87! yikes! and the really bad part? i was logging normal driving. the knock occured on starting out normally in first.

i am going to flash in the 91 octane map from cobb and see if that helps any. so shell and sunoco are out. i don't know which pump **** to try next.

no answer from perrin as of yet.

i really had no idea how bad the gas is around here.

thanks drag for chiming in. are your pedals staying intact?

I emailed perrin last night my maps. They responded that they would review and get back to me.

Interesting thread. This really makes me wonder what many of the gas stations actually are putting in for the advertised high octanes.

Going to try to get some logs as well.

I just learned today that the guy's at Perrin forgot to download their tune onto my AccessPort before it went out. I'm running Vista on my home computer and I didn't want to take any chances.

Maybe it's a good thing they forgot.

Just a quick fyi, the Cobb stage 1 map also appears to have similar knock issues. Check this thread: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ck-retard.html

Three pedals later I decided to make my own and it is holding up great! I got sick of losing auto x runs because of that lame piece of plastic under there.

I bought my AP from Perrin for a great price and they never said it was pre-loaded...they emailed me my map even before I got my AP. I also had a request for them and they took care of it right away. Perrin has been great

Have you guys logged your OEM maps to see what kind of knock values you are getting with the stock map?

logging stock is next for me. i have a hunch that it knocks stock too. if that is the case then what could you do short of running race gas. really sucks because that perrin map is awesome.
