2-step fail

So I went to the track today and i staged and every thing. I engaged the 2step and it was working but then it let go is the only way I can call it then it free reved to 7300rpm and didn't want to come back down. So i sat at the tree for like 5 seconds until it slowly came down to 6000rpm and i slip the clutch to get it going. Which my clutch wasn't very happy about that It happen twice today. So the rest of the day my car smelt like clutch I ran a few times after that my best was 13.5 at 103 with a 1.9 60ft. So can any body explained what happen. Every time I lauched the car after that It just spun the tire then bogged. My slowest today was 13.9.

WTF Happened

Did you have the clutch pressed all the way in? I don't know, sometimes that happens to me when mine isn't pressed all the way in.

Im not sure what the two step is like on the evo X but I can tell you that on my VIII if you try to get onto the two step and the car is slowly moving even a little bit it wont engage. I have never actually launched my car so cant help you with anything technical when it comes to launching. Just make sure to have the car stopped and slowly bring up your revs. If that doesnt work then get yourself a tactrix cable and check her out. Maybe the two step got shut off somehow...good luck anyway man!

Yea I was with a couple of guys that work on evo's and they said that they never heard of that before. The only response that kinda makes sense is that the factory 2-step has a time limiter on it and I was engaging it to early but I don't c y it would free rev and stay there for awhile. Oh on the ride back home my car threw a code a bank1 lean code. I cleared it and it never came back.

How exactly do you engage it normally?

I experienced the same thing on the X. The two stage will only hold the RPM for a few seconds. You can't just hang out at the rev limiter for a long time. It will let go after some time. I don't think that time can be changed in the ECU like the rev limit can. You may have to stage the car and then hit the rev limit right before you launch.

You put the car in first gear, Push the clutch all the way to the floor then you press the gas to the floor and hold it there. Then the 2step is suppose to engage and stay at 5500rpm.

Yea I tried that hitting the 2step right before I launched and it fell on it's face. 2step is designed for you to build some boost before you launch so it needs to sit there for a few seconds so it can build the desire boost level for you to launch it properly.

here is a tip and this will save ur tcase and trans tooo. when u are staged pull your ebrake engage 2 step then slowly let our the clutch just enough to feel it pull on the ebrake a bit and when u get the green drop the clutch and ebrake and u will launch hard as hell takes practice but it also makese the force of the launch less on the tranny then just dumping it all on there since u r already loading it with the ebrake.

I'll give that a try next time, But im pretty sure I'll just smoke the clutch a lil more because the stock clutch on the x are f-ing weak.
