Colby has restricted write access to the first 8k of the ROM.
meaning that if that data has changed then ECUFlash wont allow you to flash the new ROM.
you can get around that by flashing in Bench mode - however I would still advise against changing ROM's that arn't of the same series.
ie 52680015 -> 52680024 (the 2010 version) are fine to flash over each other.
But dont try the MY2010 ROM (i cant remember what ROMID it has)

At any rate, I wouldn't be testing the limits on my buddy's Evo, so I'll stick with 52680024 if I'm going to switch to ECUFlash.

its all the flashing part of the code - Colby's logic was that if the user couldn't corrupt this bit then they can't ruin the ECU in terms of being able to make it unflashable...
