X mod pricing... are you serious??
I totally agree. It is good to have a good shop to perform repairs and mods. With out going into names..what some of these shops are charging is way way to much. See they book you on $80-$90 an hour, and estimate as much time as possible to do the job, even though it may take only half the time. I think that is completly B.S..because even if it did take them "Book Time" They are always working on other cars at the same time...so thats double the money for them.
And to who ever said that evos are expensive to work on is on crack. Yea maybe the X is more money for mods, and labor right now...but that will change once shops have full lines of bolt ons. Try doing heads and cams on a porsche...thats expensive!!
Sure the awd system has some complex enginering, and parts...and the motor has a very advanced head/cams. But by no means would I say that it is a hard car to work on.
The 8/9 was a piece of cake to work on....and if you have the ability to turn a wrench...you can do most mods yourself.
To the o.p....the turbo install is a kinda a pain to do. But If you are decent with a wrench and have some time you could for sure do it. The clutch..is a different story..but a grand for the labor is out of this word....and along with the cams.
