im not sure if this is the right forum to post this..
anywya, last night my evo went to safe mode few times...
first time i was driving normally with boost set to 11.7psi, switched off the car for few minutes and engine light gone....
then when we were trying to reset-up HKS EVC.. when boost hits 26.9psi she goes to safe mode and engine check appears....

engine check light is still there..any idea how to clear it?

my guess is HKS SSQV maybe causing the problem or maybe overboosting?? but in the first time i was not over boosting!!!

 

Most likely the p1235 code. There is a safety in the ECU that doesnt like prolonged high boost. A tune will fix this. BTW I'm sure if you searched this you would find some great info on the topic.

HKS SSQV will occasionally throw limp mode but rarely a CEL. The SSQV has a bit of a boost leak so I won't be surprised if your getting near 15-18 psi vs 22-24 psi at top. Your culprit is the Manual Boost Controller HKS EVC.

i'll try resetting the ecu by disconnecting the battrey
then
1 - turn off the EBC and drive the evo hard
2 - turn on the EBC and set boost to arount 14psi and drive hard
3 - increase the boost and drive hard

if its overboost the error should appear in step 3

 

drove it really hard with 1, 2 and 3...no CEL..
yesterday got a CEL and safe mode when using 14psi (peak 16-18psi) setting!!!

you guys think a tune might help? i may get a tune soon

 

I'm more than positive your problem is the SQV. I've seen may people that have problems with these.

I would suggest to put the stock back on and test again. Your problems will more than likely go away.

 

i am tuning an Evo X for a friend now. and the car has HKS BOV. the car keeps throwing a CEL and going into Limp mode, when i push it WOT with boost level 21-22 PSI.
if i keep the boost stockish 15 PSI. No Problem nearly, although it did it once with 17 PSI??

tonight we will remove the BOV and try the car with the stock BOV.

i will update if this solves the problem

HKS BOV was removed, and the car is much better. No CEL until 26 PSI.

No VTA BOV, No Problem.

 

I have gotten the P1235 code twice and both in the same situation.

-I flash a new map to the ECU with my AP
-I get on the 2-step to launch at the track
-The car throws the code before I release the clutch to launch
