I would probably do that, but I don't exactly have the time or especially money to spend to take my tranny out, send it in, wait and then put it back in... hence the reason why I asked what I asked, and I don't know if I would say it was poor... there's guys out there who have pretty high miles on their cars and haven't had an issue.

My center Diff just took a poop also. And my car is pretty much stock.

Question for everyone that has suffered pin failures: What are the symptons of this?? I think I may be having the same issue. I have a very loud metal:metal noise when decelerating. It happens mostly in gear, but I hear noise in neutral too, and even with the car shut off and coasting. It's quite obnoxious.

So, if this happened to you, was the car still driveable, or does it eventually just "break"? Was there fluid leakage if you got a hole in the case, and where would I look for that hole? I really hope this tranny holds out until my new one is built...

Edit 9/20/09: I figured out that the decel noise was just an exhaust leak. I guess maybe my tranny is OK for now...

From what a friend of mine told me, the only evidence he had was a leak underneath which turned out to be a case with the famous "hole". His car was still drivable. And from what i notice is constantly launching your car that leads to this failure
I wanna command Dave for bringing this up and highlighting issues like this, a little preventive maintenance will eventually help save some bucks and downtime . I remember reading his original thread, and some of the negative feedback that he got. The funny thing is that later that same week, my friend had this failure!!!

Hmmm... I'm surprised he didn't hear a hole being worn in the tranny. Anyone have an under car pic showing where that is?

If the diff has been damaged then we have to have it here because it requires machining to fix. That will add to the cost obviously.
Hi David,

I have a JDM X RS, will the kit fit?

Just noticed when im accelerating from about 2k rpm - 4k rpm ONLY in 4th gear, I hear a slight buzz/whine noise. It just started doing it and wasnt before. Is something already broken? Am i ok if i drive it nice? Whats the deal. Im not mechanically inclined. Thanks in advance
