Yeah it's not just the wheel sizes in question but also the size of the turbine and compressor housing you are using that determines overall flow capacity and response. Mismatch them a bit and you lose some efficiency, response, or flow depending on what combo you are using.

Everyone can have their opinions, and for pump gas and 25 psi the FP Red isn't exactly performing as well as expected which I agree with.

Once you turn up the boost to 30+ psi and tune it with the aid of Meth/Race gas/E85 I think the FP Red performs just fine.

Just my take, and I don't want to go too far off topic on this CBRD BB-X Turbo thread!

Can't wait to see how this new turbo works out. I am thinking of upgrading my turbo in a couple of months so having more options is even better.

Good luck with this release!

Chad, put a ton of time and R&D money into this turbo. I know that this turbo will perform as well as he says it will. So with supporting mods, you will see fantastic gains and have the torque and hp that everyone wants.

It will be great to see some results soon from Chad and CBRD crew.

#1 the FP Red is inferior to this turbo here. It is more than evident by looking at how much R&D time was spent on both. FP just slapped their Evo VIII/IX FP Red internals into a Evo X turbo and called it a day. Literally. And guess what? The turbo performs way worse than a properly R&D'd turbo for the Evo X application could.

#2 the Evo X FP Red performs worse than the previous iteration of the Red, which is just disappointing.

You've got nothing but a very, very short soapbox to stand upon, so just stay quiet.

x2, but I think it's completely relevant. There is no comparison between what the BB-X will do to what the FP Red does. If this turbo actually pushes 57 lb/min in the real world, it will already be outperforming what the FP Red has proven itself capable of at the very ragged edge (with the BVP drag Evo X).

Anyway, Chad I'll PM you about specific pricing on a potential DBB version of this new turbo. That would be awesome to slap in, quite honestly.

You will have to refab the oil feed lines for sure with a DBB version.

Will be more costly.

I've got more spare AN fittings and SS line lying around than any man ought to... should be fine.

But why? All it would need is a restrictor as a DBB turbo requires a looooooot less oil than its thrust bearing counterpart.

Even if FP says it flows "60 lb/min," they're wrong as well because it just doesn't. Every single dyno result I've read about from the FP Red shows that it flows anywhere from 47 to 54 lb/min efficiently. If you didn't know, lb/min flow figures can be backwards calculated based upon peak power output, engine displacement, boost pressure, and base volumetric efficiency at a particular RPM. It's not that complicated, I don't have to buy an FP Red to know it doesn't flow 60 lb/min. I can, however, have previously owned a GT35R and know very well what a 61 lb/min turbo can do... and have made 560-ish WHP on 23 psi with it. Nobody has even gotten close to that with the FP Red.

I'm hugely unimpressed with what FP has done with the Evo X FP Red, to be honest.
I thought I was the only that felt this way. Sure enough people bought them up like they were BOGO.

The compressor wheels are being anodized blue, so you guys can recognize your turbos

There is some third party testing results coming shortly.... and the turbo is being featured in a major magazine in the next month or so also!!!

They will be shipping in less than two weeks, the ONLY hold up is the compressor wheel coloring

$1765 shipped is the intro price (in the united states) with a new OEM turbo, the new comp wheel/turbine, balance, and upgraded actuator!!

cheers

Is the third party testing going to be released before they ship?

Interesting how people are ordering these before they see any testing, now that is faith

However it does look very promising.

Oh, so two weeks is the ship date for beta testing type people then not general sales? I am waiting to see these results as I may be making a switch.
