Basically it just uses time in seconds vs RPM to plot out HP and torque curves with various adjustments based on tire diamter, weight, weather and dyno correction factor. I've been using the Mustang average because it ended up being closest to what I get for Dyno numbers and adding 30% to estimate crank HP works really well for me. My 1/4 performance has been within 1 mph of it's estimates that way so it's been a good indicator.

That turbo sounds promising so far!
VDR is great... I'll pull some numbers after work today and post up graphs.

I don't have any photos of mine... I didn't want to show it off because it's a non-blue-coated pre-production unit I should have taken some, and of the port job I did on the turbo manifold. Kind of proud of that work

UT EvoX, you received a preproduction BBK-B with a billet wheel?

Yes this is a PRE-Official-RELEASE turbo....

I wanted an independent tester There is another one being tuned today I believe in cali..

the only difference is, these turbos have a non-anodized compressor wheel!!

cheers

Just an update... I've finalized my 30-31 psi tune on 91 + methanol injection. Seeing roughly 280 load all the way to 7000 rpm, 270-275 after that. My IDC is 73% on 1010 cc injectors at 11.8 AFR, so I estimate roughly 430-450 WHP uncorrected

I'll post some logs up later. It's been snowing, so tuning has been done in short bursts

I do have some issues with cyl #4... it may be a little sick. The ceramic dropped down around the electrode and my idle/cruise went to crap. Compression is 10 psi lower than the healthiest cylinder, leak down is 13% versus 9% on the healthiest cylinder. Runs great though, so I'm not worried. But it's about time to start looking at building myself a short block to drop in

The tune this entire time was WAY conservative and fueling is 100%, so I'm not that worried. If there is damage, it occurred before this turbo went on.

Anyway, off topic of the CBRD turbo, but the point is this thing makes a TON of power. Any stock size turbo that holds 30 psi to 7500 rpm is impressive in my book. Thanks again Chad!

Any information from the other tester in California?

On a motor that is 'a little sick'? That's a little disconcerting as far as representative graphs would be concerned.

If it can create a Dom2-like boost curve at 30psi then that'd be crazy impressive.

Sounds like 91 tune. I hope the master of E85 gives us something more savory.

If it was a 91 tune that number would be very impressive.

It was on E85 but far from being a final tune as the car wasn't at 100%. Had some operating issues, mainly a boost leak from an injector seal and a couple other little quirks.

Hoping to get the car back to 100% and back on the dyno early next week. 398 with it dropping to 22psi up top is a good sign however.

Perhaps for a car having problems--you get 380 from stock turbos. I think what everyone is looking for is Dom-like spool and Red-like top end.

I'm glad you're the one working on this since you've got some great graphs/tunes out there for comparison.

I see full spool in 4th at around 3800-3900 rpm with an aggressive MIVEC map. 5-10 psi is available between 2500 and 3500 rpm. Not bad IMHO. It holds 30 psi from 4000 to 7500 rpm just fine. I'll post graphs while I'm on vacation... don't have my laptop right now.

I have one (maybe) sick cylinder that is 10 psi lower than the rest... I don't know how much dyno experience you have, but one slightly worn cylinder may reduce output by like 5 WHP. Shouldn't matter much at all I've pushed some crazy power figures out of completely trashed blocks before. It's not good to do obviously, but I figure part of my #4 piston top ring land is worn away from detonation. It's definitely not chipped because I saw no aluminum specks on the spark plug, the ground strap wasn't smashed at all, and compression and leak down aren't significant enough to make me concerned. 13% leak down, cold, is still very "healthy" according to a <20% = healthy guideline.

Anyway, with my IDC at 73% on 1010 cc DW injectors and AFR @ 11.6, I estimate power to actually be somewhere around 480 WHP right now. On the stock 550-600 cc/min injectors I was seeing 83% duty cycle outputting around 320 WHP uncorrected. Let me put it this way: if I were running Deatschwerks 800 cc's right now, they would be maxed out!

I'd have had this thing on the dyno 3 times by now if it were FWD or RWD, but AWD dynos are few and far between around here. Sucks, but I know my estimated power figures are somewhere in the correct ballpark; going off IDC on known flow-rated injectors is usually pretty reliable.
