Exedy Stage 2 Clutch gone...Help with a new option?

I replaced the stock clucth on my X after 35K miles with the Exedy Stage 2, 3 or 4 puck? cant remember. Anywho, Ive put 20K miles on it and its about shot. This has been with many auto crosses and drag pulls over about 2 years. As you can tell, i launch the car fairly often so grip and heat dissipation are important however i HATED the chatter from the Exedy. It cooperated in racing conditions but driving in traffic totally sucks. When i had it put in, i had the stock flywheel resurfaced.

Now I am looking to you all for advice on my next set up. Ive read all the posts within this thread and sounds like the FX300 is off the table. Any feedback on the ACT 6 puck or something else that has been a positive experience for someone?

My other question is if the flywheel can be resurfaced again or if I should get a new one and which one people are having success with.

And by the way, I enjoy a clutch that is relatively simple to drive however the car is not my DD.

Thanks for helping me out

Exedy Twin, Competition Street HD, Competition sprung 6-puck, ACT HDSS, ACT HDG6 are all choices that will probably work for you (depending on your power level).

I believe you can just replace the plates on the exedy. Why don't you do that?

I have the segmented fx400 for my dd and it's a pain in the *** to drive. About 2000 miles now and the Chatter has gone down a lot but I still jerk sometimes from a start and when I am trying to park perfectly in a parking space the clutch makes this crazy grunting noise. Once the clutch gets going though the shifting is butter smooth no notchy Grindy crap anymore. I think the full face version would be a good dd and I also went with a Evo 9 clutch cylinder.

Did you go from stock to that? You should here and feel the Exedy... You would definately hate it. Parking and traffic is a *****.

Anybody have an ACT 6 puck in Northeast Ohio i can drive?

i was stock before then a fp red and built motor made me go thinking i was a hero and needed a fx400. i almost went with the exedy HD 2. for your power level though i think you should go full face disk like a ACT HDSS. search the 6 puck act on evo x forums.

We have had great great success with Competition 6 puck. Had it on our Evo X and Evo IX MR.

I personally drove the IX MR daily and my power levels were right in line where you are. I found the chatter to be liveable. First gear had some chatter, but once you get used to it, you can really minimize it by finding that sweet spot in the clutch engagement.

I had it paired with their lightweight flywheel, as well. The car was such a joy at track days and autocrosses!

Cheers!
