Hardly. I've drive both my Evos all over this country, and continent, and never once had an issue. Given a proper tune, others shouldn't have an issue either. You do need to make sure you're running the proper fuel for your tune, which is why I have both 93 and 91-octane tunes on my ECU, and an E85 one ready to go if I ever decide to go that route.

Is a tune required for just a BOV on a stock GSR? I want to get a HKS SSQ4 but I'm not sure if that BOV goes well with the X's and if I need to tune. I'm just over paranoid about screwing up the motor or the ECU? Thanks.

True that but the X does work off of MAF and speed density...however ill never reccommend venting to the atmosphere lol

A Retune might be required if your stock BOV is leaking. In that case the aftermarket one will hold more boost which can be a problem if you are not tuned for it

So basically I have to get the recirculate kit with the BOV? If I recirculate will I still get that great HKS BOV sound?
