Straight test-pipe rattle

Hey evomers,

I have a straight test pipe which rattles and I cant seem to figure out why? It doesnt touch anything such as heat shields or any bolts but still has this pesky rattle. Before I spend $100 on a rexspeed pipe WITH the bend, is there anything I can do?

I know its a very very vague plea for help but hey I figured it wouldnt hurt.

test pipe replaces the catalytic converter and opens the exhaust up, as for the test pipe have you jacked the car up and started it? it might not be your test pipe, my downpipe rattles against my lower support rod

I bet it is very close to the driveshaft carrier support and the engine vibrations are causing enough movement for your pipe to hit. I suggest only using testpipes or HFC's with a bend in them just like the factory catalytic converter. Shops using a straight pipe with angled flanges are taking a shortcut to reduce their costs of production.

I have the Depo Racing test pipe, which is straight in design, it will rattle if put on backwards so you may try flipping the test pipe around.

thinking about it, idk how it would be installed backwards as the 02 sensor bungs would be in the wrong location?

I recently had this problem also after a ETS test pipe install. I bought my car to a mechanic and found out the bolts were rusted and i thought i tightened all bolts when i put it on, but it was because of 2 bolts that was making the whole downpipe and testpipe vibrate and rattle. Just check all bolts might need to be replaced or just tightened

test pipe is on the correct way, there is a hanger to line it up. None of the bolts, wideband sensor, or 02 sensors are loose. It is very weird, I will hit the pipe with my hand (to make it vibrate) and the will make a metallic rattle noise, I confirmed it doesnt touch ANYTHING! There is a bout a 1.5 inch gap around it so I know it is not vibrating and hitting any heat shields. it is also very far from the driveshaft carrier bolts.

Looks like im just going to bite the bullet for a new test pipe.
