'15 Clunky Shifting?

Hey everyone, I'm new to the boards, so pardon anything that I say that might seem "noobish."

I just picked up a '15 Evo X GSR, with 8k on it, which I'm already loving, but I'm noticing something when shifting that isn't what I'm used to; when I go into gear, I often hear what sounds like a mechanical "clunk," not really a grind or anything (I sure know what that sounds like), but it just doesn't seem smooth. When I'm extra firm with the clutch, pinning it to the bottom with more vigor, this doesn't seem to happen as much. I also don't hear it when downshifting via the double-clutch technique.

So, .1) What is this?
2.) Should I be concerned?
2.b) If so, what should I do?

Thank you very much, I look forward to my time here!

Its fairly common on all model years honestly. My 2008 does it, mostly in the 2nd -> 3rd gear change.

Ok, that's good news. So it isn't something I have to worry about causing any problems then?

After you change your diff fluids and trans fluid. The clunky shifting will get better.

Not at all. Its just one of those characteristic Evo things Like rcb213 said, if you replace the trans fluids to amsoil or redline it'll help out a bit.

Mine does if I'm being sloppy or not really paying attention. The issue as I see it on my car is the clutch doesn't really disengage where I think it does. If I make sure to depress the clutch all the way, I don't get a clunk however fast I'm trying to shift.

Also, thus rarely happens when then temp is about mid 60 or so. I bought my Evo in November - what a ***** it was getting in gear at times. It's much, much better now. It shifts very well now. If this Evo shifted as well as a Mazda 2 manual I would probably have list my license by now. I got used to doing in gear pulls because the next gear was often hard to get into when the car was new.

I have found that Amsoil 75w90, as well as replacing the underhood shifter linkage bushings helps a decent amount. But just like the 8/9 5 speed, they are just a notchy gear box..
