1st gear transmission whine

I took my car to the track and did 2 passes in it. Now I'm getting 1st gear whine. It only does it if the car is in 1st gear, the car is moving and the clutch pedal is pushed in (disengaged). There was a kid on the Evo X forum that had the same issue. But never posted an answer to the problem and he hasn't wrote me back either

Will do my man. Hopefully you'll do the same. Did you check fluid level or drain it yet?

Yeah mine has done this since day one. It's pretty subtle though.

Does yours do it with the clutch pushed in or released? Mine only does it when I disengage the clutch. Doesn't do it with it engaged or with a load on it.

Its an Evo thing. First gear makes noises. The gear has a very shallow helical angle for strength, which makes it noisy. My car on a 2-1 downshift sounds like a kenne bell supercharger on an 04 cobra...lol

Hahaha, that's exactly what it sounds like. I just got worried because it started doing it after my 1st time at the track. Will it get any louder or sound worse with more launches?

My old fox body t5 mustang sounded like that. But it was because the main bearing on the countershaft was worn. Ended up locking the tranny up on me lol.
