10 to 1 DoHBoY doesn't buy any car in that price range in the next year. He's just jacking around dealers for test drives for fun.

for my dealership i dont think they will let any1 test drive a X cause all the X's that come in r bought already, i mean they dont even let u sit in them because of that so for me its not really an issue about sales letting me test drive an X

but situations like this happened to me before, they wouldnt let me test drive a WRX unless i put at least 10k deposit on it and they told me that any1 who test drives a WRX will buy it, so i was like w/e

but wht really pissed me off was that when i went 2 the honda dealership with my parents and they wouldnt let me test drive the new civic SI, unless i bought it, then they would let me test drive it

but w/e its all good

Really no test drive on the SI, that's ridiculous. Well, in your situation w/the X's, when all are bought, I would say that is a good dealer. I would want mine to do the same. But, they should have at least let you sit in one, that's not going to harm anyone.

Ima salesmanager at a dealer and havent really driven the evo X other than in the parking lot when we unloaded them out of respect to t buyers

Im contemplating a demo but that thing would get ABUSED... id have tosell it used and take a big hit when i sell it.. plus I dont wanna have 2 demos...would it be an mr or a gsr? double the loss?

I dot think we will get as many inthe east coast... plus with Honda i know they look atmy inventory if they see a ev has been sitting onmy lot for couple months they can slow my allocations.... not sure with MMC but thats how it is with American Honda.... they dont see or care if its a demo...

you dont see mny dealers have a demo M3, or S2000 or anything.... but it would be nice to show people what the evo can do... its a dlemma for dealers and customers

ive had customers not wanna buy a car with 15 miles after THEY test dove it saying its been test driven.. even though it was them.... really... lol

It's not my fault they are starving, i'm not the one eating their food.

I completely agree with the fact of putting miles on it isnt good for "business" per say, but When it comes to choosing to demo an MR or a GSR, id say MR since its got the SST and is easy for more people to test it. Honestly it all comes down to who you let drive it and who you put in charge of bringing that person out on a test drive.

That whole "you cant drive an SI" is bull****, and you know what its exactly how i feel about the "you cant drive an SRT-4"

Lets put this into perspective, not being able to test an evo is understandable, its Mitsu's highest price car on the market. However, SRT-4 is dodge's lowest priced sports vehicle you can buy. Baseline chargers are more expensive, then when you get into SRT-10 vipers and rams, or SRT-8 300's and Chargers the SRT-4 is a piece of **** compared to them, and priced correctly.

It is a respectful thing to deny test drives for vehicles that are already sold or paid for or even placed a deposite on it. I agree with that and wouldnt argue it.

Who knows, maybe ill wait for a GT-R and get me one of those, further away and a bit more time to save up that extra bit o'cash its going to cost. Then i'd def know im getting something amazing and wouldnt mind signing something before i drive it.. but not an SRT-4.

Funny thing is I just checked my voice mails (my phone was dead from the time i left the infiniti dealer and it doesnt tell me i have messages unless i actually check.. ghetto i know) and over the past 2 days ive gotten atleast 7 calls from that dodge dealer. 2 of which were today within 2 hours of each other. Apparently no one wants their crappy *** car and they are really looking to get me back in there and do anything they can.. guess its not as hot as they thought.

How come you're talking about maybe getting a GT-R. Pricing will be over $70k, probably close to $90k w/mark-ups. You were just looking at cars in the $30k's & $40k's. Now all of sudden your thinking about getting a car that's double the price. WTF. Why don't you check out those Vipers then, if you think you can afford a GT-R?

Let me put this into perspective for you. $40k car. Someone living at home, working, and going to school. School = loans. Work = money. Living at home = No expenses.

Now lets calculate finances.

Myself with parent co-signed on a loan for $40k, say over 72 months or whatever it is, when i get a vehicle i keep it, im a pack rat when it comes to things and if i have a sports car ill keep it and maintain it myself long after the warranty is up.

Now lets say payments are about $450 a month. Insurance, we will say $250-300 a month, so lets say $700 a month total.

To make $700 a month total some average person working for minimum wage ($6.50) would have to work 30 hours a week for it after taxes. thats not even full time. now that is completely possible considering said person wouldnt have to pay any expenses, just gas. Said person would be fed, clothed, and sheltered for nothing. Now, you say "well thats all he'd be able to have" i say wrong. School loans are usable on anything remotely related to living and getting to school, including transportation... that could give you $150 so a month to do whatever you want. say $70 for gas, and $80 to enjoy whatever movies or events youd like. Not very hard to accomplish hmm?

Hrmm now lets say said person makes $15 an hour working for a decent company part time 30 hours a week. $1800 a month before taxes about $1440 after... say the car + insurance is $800 a month that still leaves $640 to do whatever said person pleases. Again, its not very hard to afford a vehicle in said price range when you have absolutely nothing else to worry about

Now do you understand why i can absolutely afford this vehicle? call me spoiled, but i still believe i am smart for being at home. It's those sad souls who live at home and CANT take care of themselves and have no choice but to stay there. I have a choice to stay or go, and i chose to stay for many reasons some being the luxury of not having to worry about things just yet.

Lol no ****, i wouldnt get a GT-R, thats a true dream, plus like you say get a viper and i would before i got a GT-R for the simple fact its been my dream car forever. That was more of a hypothetical joke and a point of fact that there are some things i would sign before i drive Im stickin to my $35-$45k range, i dont even want to look at the BMWs because with all the goodies its well into the $50's, at that point id want to step up to a $60k and you know where that leads to. mmmm purple SRT-10 viper

Your math seems a little off. A 72 month loan on a $40k car is more like a $700 monthly payment. You've got to add taxes, title and license fees, document fees, etc. So, you're really financing $42k. And at 72 months, you won't get the best interest rates unless you're a member of a credit union. So, $42k for 72 months at 5.9% (a good rate for 72 months) is $694 monthly payment.

To have a $450 monthly payment you would have to put $15k down.

Which To Buy

http://www.edmunds.com/infiniti/g37/2008/review.html

I have never driven the G37 but I would say go for the X.

Personally I think the X looks cooler. The MSRP is slightly lower as well.

Dont take credit for other peoples findings, moron.

Regardless. I was basing off a current loan, but lets see. If you get a $42k loan with 0 down and a low interest (yes we are part of a credit union) then we estimate the payments to about $800 a month for a 60month loan, thats still not bad it just changes my reasoning to anyone with a $15/hr job could afford it where as before i said anyone with a min wage job could afford it. That's really all that changes. Still someone making $20/hr would be better off. Anywho the reasoning still stands i would be able to afford it, more easily than you may think. im in that "could buy it and still have money category"

I'm just trying to help. I really think you should just let this thread die, but to each his own.

I know you're probably not really thinking about things down the road since you really want the car now. But what are you going to do when you're ready to move out of your parent's house? The loan on this car is going to tie you to living in your parent's house for the next 6 years. If I remember correctly, you're 19 years old. Do you plan on living in your parent's house until you're 25 just so you can own this car? I couldn't wait to move out of my parent's house when I finished college. I wanted my own life. Needed my own apartment so I could nail random chicks whenever I wanted to. Couldn't do that living under my parent's roof. Just something to think about.
