I got my Mitsubishi rock guard (Part # ALE08YXX01) installed at my local dealer a couple days ago. My car is pretty much brand new, but it looks like this film covers all the problem areas that people have been having.

Total came out to about $180 parts and labor. I must say, they did a horrible job installing it! There are bubbles and white marks all over the place, they even covered up the factory film thats on the bottom of the rear doors! I would have thought it would be common sense to remove this old film since the new stuff covers it completely. The dealer assured me that these "bubbles" would go away in a couple of days, yet 2 days later it's still the same .

I'll be bringing my car back to the dealer next week to have it competely redone. I'm just glad they were the ones who installed it, so they'll have to fix it. If I did it myself It would be on me to order a new kit.

Here are some pics, they really don't show how bad it really is...

Good god. They didn't even remove the OEM film. They obviously don't know how to properly apply this stuff. Ask for your money back and go somewhere else. It's normal to have a couple of bubbles after installation that will eventually go away but that looks amateur.

That looks horrible. I wouldn't have even let it leave the dealership.

Yeah, normaly I wouldn't have, but I had service leave the keys with the sales department since they were going to be closed by the time I got there.

Got a large rock chip (about 8mm) on the driver side door within 500 miles of having the Evo X MR, and this is *with* the aero kit. The rear quarter panels seem fine though.

I'm thinking of either clear bra-ing the entire car, or getting mud flaps at least.

Yeah, that sucks... I got mine wrapped with clear bra both front end and rear impact panels. Gives me peace of mind.

Mud flaps help, but they certainly don't resolve the problem.

It looks like they did not even clean the edge of the old film, which makes it stand out horribly. That old patch has to go to make it look any better. I would take the chips over those bubbles. They must have used their hand rather than a squeegee!

I don't know how they applied it, but they must have done everything wrong. It's getting redone next week. The service manager told me that according to the TSB, the new film should cover over the existing film thats on the lower corner of the door

I find that hard to believe. The shop that did mine removed the OEM piece.
