Rough idle?

Hello..I am not sure if this is the right section to post or not..I have a 08 EVO X..I have about 1500 miles so far..Ever since I bought the car at times it has a ruff idle like its going to stall..It jumps from about 750rpm to down about 250rpm then up to 500rpm..Its reving itself in the wrong direction..I was wondering if any knew if this was due to the car running rich or not..I have the same problem as everyone else with the acceleration hesitation at times as well..I haven't found anything on this yet..Thanks..

I fix that problem by putting in a works drop in.

I just experienced this same issue myself recently. Coming to a stop after doing about 70 mph on the freeway, car came close to stalling. Basically the rpms jumped around 300rpm to 800 rpm about 3 times then it settled down to normal. Going to try the air filter mod, although this has only happened once.

Happens to me daily. It never actually stalls so I don't care. I think that is just how this motor revs really, I hope.

Yea..I think I am going to buy the drop in filter..I was comparing that to the cold air intake set up and really not much of a difference and its 100plus cheaper..

P.S. I was still sleeping at work when I posted this so my spelling was not up to par..HAHA..Opps

Are there any specific events that you've been able to identify as the cause of the idle problem?

I think this might be a safety feature. My base RSX had somthing similar when I would come to a stop from a 60mph roll. If I took it out of gear and started to stop when the car would stop the RPM's would revv up from 500rpm to about 700rpm. nothing as low as the X but still. Also could be a possiblity of the CHAIN not spinning as fast as the cars rpm. Considering the RSX has a chain driven motor. Just my 02 cents and could be completely wrong.

It happens at different times weither the car is hot or cold or stopped at a light..Its moody and there is no set time or event it happens..Some days it doesnt happen at all..I put super in the car all the time..I am not sure and I cant figure it out..I also get the break up as well under full throttle at times..Its the strangest thing..I had some guy on my bumper yesterday and did a light pull away a few times..Under a light load it felt like it was breaking up..Well after he kept ridding my *** I down shifted and blew all the build up on his car..I saw the smoke blow out the tail pipes..Well the hesitation def went away but thats why it leads to to believe its too much fuel..I been reading on here about the filter helping out alot to solve this..I might have to order asap..I want these two issues figured out plus the filter could help with the gas miles..Thats always a plus..
