I just got the second reflash about ahhhh and hour ago and i wen to the mall and when i came out after only 30 minutes the car just stalled, i started it again and the rpm kept falling to 0 and jumping back to about 800rpm. Is anyone else having problems with the second reflash?

The car is not a lemon, it's just that the reflashes don't cure the issues 100 %. Mine still occasionally almost stalls out and then recovers, but it doesn't happen too often so it desn't really bother me. The hesitation issue that was supposed to be solved in the second reflash barely helps at all. My car pulls clean to redline now, but as soon as I shift, when I first get back on the gas the car still hesitates and bogs down before power comes back on again. The ecu still has some bugs in it, but all in all it's fine. Just get a REAL reflash and get an ecutek tune or the new open ecu when it's ready. That'll get this engine making the power and running the way it should've when it came out of the factory.

Uh quick question guys... My first Evo and First turbo car... so I have no idea about reflashes and stuff like that...

I will check the date my Evo is built after work to see if I qualify for 2nd flash..

1) It's free at dealer right?
2) I don't have the idle problem the 1st flash is suppose to take care of, but someone mentioned the first flash makes the car save gas a little... so If I didn't get the first flash, would a second one just cover it (kinda like updating on games) or I need to get first, then second flash...??

Thanks

Yes, it is free. And yes the second supercedes the first...only need one. Just check your manufacture date to see if it is required. Car runs smoother after the second reflash.

If you got both reflashes and are still having problems, it is likely the dealer did not properly perform the idle relearn procedure. Here it is from the TSB:

ETV RELEARN PROCEDURE
1. Start the engine and let it warm up. Use the MUT-III to confirm that the engine coolant temperature
exceeds 85o C (185o F). The A/C switch should be OFF for this procedure.
2. Repeat the following steps 3 times:
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and wait at least 10 seconds.
 Restart the engine.
Leave the engine running after the third start.
3. Allow the vehicle to idle for a minimum of 15 minutes.
The ETV Relearn Procedure is complete.

As you can see, this is a pretty time consuming procedure, so I bet most dealerships skip this step. Try it out yourself. Since you don't have a MUT-III tool to confirm coolant temperature, just make sure it's warmed up all the way to the mid-point. Good luck!

Can anyone confirm this?
The exact cutoff date is April 10, 2008. Mine was also made in 04/2008, and I needed the flashes because I got a DTC light.

Thumbs up Reflash #2 scheduled

I just read all 188 posts, not kidding. I stopped by the Dealership today where I got my X and they were very helpful and made apt for wed 11/26 to get the 2nd reflash done.
I went in and told them that my Evo is suffering from loss of power above 5000K,idle issues, surging and smoke out of the tailpipes when stepping on it. The looked up my X,built in 2/08 and asked me when I wanted to make the apt. They threw some dates at me and it's scheduled for this Wed.
So just wanted to thank everyone in here who has posted in ref to this, the differences it made and informing me about it. I'm ready to stop driving it for the winter, but figured i'd better get it done.
The smoke and cold morning bucking was starting to get to me. I only have 2500 miles on it-has K&N filter which made a difference in driveability/MPG. . so with the reflash i'm hoping to feel the new found smoothness & more top end power as described.. .maybe a bump in MPG too.

PS: I told them that there are hundreds of posts on it on Evo forums and there is now 2 reflashes, a revised newer one-after the April one. They knew that I knew what I was talking about and didn't try to blow me off at all.

TSB 08-13-011 is all you need. Just like any software the latest version contains all the fixes that the first one had, so therefore you only need the latest.

This is correct. I had my car re-flashed last weekend and TSB 08-13-011 is what they gave me.
