When Mitsubishi releases a new flash, does the dealer perform the update for free?

Got my first/second reflash done this morning. I should have had it done sooner. I didn't pick up any gas mileage but the turbo spools much quicker and the powerband is far smoother.

reflash IS FREE, you do NOT need to have a problem to get it done. The dealers who say this are full of BS. They don't get paid full for labor by Mitsu on warrenty work and just don't want to do it.

got mine last night. Definitely seems to pull better at higher rpms, can't say how much for sure but before the flash my car just seemed flat after 5k (I rarely revved above 6k due to this) but now it pulls hard all the way to redline.

OK went and got the 2nd reflash this afternoon.

Big difference on the top end and much smoother over the entire powerband.

Definite MPG difference. On the way there, cruise control at 65 = under 25mpg on the instant meter. Way home, cruise at 70 = over 25mpg on the instant meter.

I should have flipped over the nav to the instant to get a better idea of what was going on rather than "under" and "over", but it was definitely doing better on fuel.

I took mine to the dealer last Friday with the TSB number and the first guy didn't even know how to look up TSB numbers, so he got another guy and he was able to find it. It says for "slight hesitation above 5000rpm" and when I walked in I didn't say anything about hesitation and they started telling me they wouldn't do the reflash because it could cause other problems and they didn't want to be blamed for them.

I finally said OK fine, there's hesitation when I step on the gas and he said they have to write up a complaint and start the paperwork for it. Then they finally told me their evo tech was in california for training and I would have to set up another time to have it done. So supposedly if I show up before they open next friday on my day off they are going to do it, but i'm guessing they're going to give me the BS about it causing other problems when I go in then also. Or I'm going to have to leave it there all day for them to "try" to get to it.

My local dealer in the antelope valley was not helpful at all, they could not find anything on any re flashes for the new X. I told them please call south coast and get the info, but they refused. So in the end they told me they would call me when they hear of any re flashes or tsb's released for the X. so I said F it and drove almost 3 hrs to get the flash, i was in and out of south coast in an hr. they washed my car and everything.

please, If you live in the antelope valley do not waste your time at Lancaster Mitsubishi......I beg you.... they wasted hrs of my time trying to explain to them how to get the information for this ecu flash. truthfully I just dont think they have received the updating machine or the software for the X.

But I'm really happy for the improvements in this flash. power band is smooth like it should be. also low end is leaned out, not as sluggish when taking off from a stop.... MPG did not change that much though. eventually I will go with ECUTEK, but this will do fine for now. I have a full 3" dual exhaust and cone filter... also have a test pipe, car still a little too rich to put it on though. when i had it on the car before, it through a CEL and caused the car to run even richer.

I called the dealer. They said it only applies to those actually experiencing 'the slight hesitation above 5K rpm'. I m not having those issues....yet.

Sounds like the problem is they are short one guys trained on the Evo. The dealership I have been going to as 2 and only 1 is trained on the ECU. Maybe when the guy gets back, they will get their heads out their asses.

Get the reflash...tell them you have hesitation but get the reflash.

The dealer here just gave me the reflash when I asked for it (no BS about hesitation).

I just got 22.8 MPG in city driving last night where I have never gotten above 17 even if I drove like Grandma....plus it has more torque (I have not gone over 5000 yet because I still only have 600miles on it).

Well dudes and dudettes, I have an appointment for Friday morning for Flash number two. I have the stutter problem like crazy ...feels like it chokes..If you are all correct about this being finally the flash that fixes this and makes the EVO run like it should have ran from the factory in the first place than hopefully *knock on wood* Friday is the day I say good bye to the dealer for ever. I am going in with my bolt on mods, I don't care. I hope it still runs a tad rich on the flash so my mods can still be well effective at some lean out.

Those of you who do have it, does it pull the same just with out the choking to the top or does it actually increase in acceleration to red line now like it should?

Ran it to red line for the first time this week 1 time. Pulled all the way through, no hesitation but I have nothing to compare it to......The big thing for me right now is I get 3-4 MPG in the city. (22s from 18s).

Drove down to South Coast today and got the reflash (and routine maintenance)! For 45 miles, the drive wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be!

Anyway, wow, makes a big difference: no more hesitation after 5k (as everyone stated!), and idling isn't shaky!

The service crew over there was REALLY NICE (except for one that looked like a supervisor wearing all black, which saw me standing there for like 10 minutes and didn't acknowledge my presence), but anyway, I'M HAPPY!
