lol, not likely.

ECU flashes are more likely to help your car in the long run, even with tuning. The computer system on this car is really quite good and it's surprising tuners left right and center with how adaptable it is. It's not going to change the AFR's so badly that adding a mod will make it too lean as the ecu can most likely adjust the flow of fuel automatically for the situation needed. The problem we're having now is that it is set up to add too much fuel in the first place. Fixing that will be very beneficial to all.

As for a cone filter voiding your warranty I think that would be very very silly for anyone to do as long as you have some sort of filter on there in the first place man. Besides you're taking it in for an update that has nothing to do with a warranty claim due to let's say a turbo problem caused by sand in the compressor. You know what I mean? It's a mitsubishi problem they're fixing so don't let them make you feel bad about it.

As rich as the engine runs and as easy as it seems to be to tune a bunch of power into it by leaning it out, do you think that Mitsubishi has a reason for underpowering the X?

Afraid of too many warrenty claims on the power train? easy to upgrade power in the next model year?

IMO it would be stupid, very stupid, if they do, just depends on how your dealership feels toward aftermarket parts and if they honor it or void your warranty just thinking of aftermarket parts. But I don't trust the dealership's around here like that so I wouldn't chance it......but that's just me.

The dealership really hasn't too much to say most items about the warranty, Mitsubishi does, obviously they know certain things are not big deal, but depending on what the claim is, the field service reps know and will ask how a problem may have happened. No dealer with a brain is going to risk their franchise agreement for a claim that is not completely legit. Especially on a new model like the X, they will most likely ask for pictures and parts before authorizing the work. I can tell you that they monitor expensive claims very closely, so most times it out of the dealers hands, but they take the heat from the customer.

And that's fine I still have no trust or taking any chances, regardless! Best believe whenever I take my car in for warranty work, it will be stock so Mitsu can feel free to monitor my claims. I just got back from taking it in and that service rep did a 12 min inspection, before they took it into the garage, on my car for Any Mods. I was telling him how I accidently switched the awc lever on the steering column and he nearly flipped and said "what, what........you got in a accident!". I'm like WTF!!!!

rect the air/fuel ratio during certain operating parameters.

Cool. This is exactly what my dealer told me months ago, and they have been right on schedule with both flashes. Making my appointment tomorrow and hopefully it picks up a little power from the flash. If it does I think 12.9s will be possible completely stock.

The guy sounds like a boner, and then they wonder why less than 40% of customers that buy cars come to the dealer for service after the sale. The only thing they can count on is warranty work. Apparently the service writer is looking for reasons not to help, most people that do that job I know want to fix everything they can find and help out. They usually get paid for each thing they can get you to fix or the factory to warranty. Doesn't make much sense.

This is exactly right. Enless the a factory rep was there or something watching that guy he is a total jerk.

car still runs rich after update, but doesn't seem quite as bad, before I could see all the extra fuel, it looked black..now is more silver gray. Still very rich running, not a noticable difference in fuel economy or not enough of a difference to save much if any fuel.

Yeah he is, and that is nicely putting it. That is why I will probably be making a couple of trips to SoCal for some help in the future.
