it did start after in terms of i did the head light mod on june 17 and this started wed. i don't think it has anything to do with it, personally, but i am expecting the technician to tell me that. they like to attribute it to anything that you have done. i will definitely post anything i find out.

I'd let it ride if it goes off after the key off key on. The wheel sensors are sensitive. The light comes on while on the dyno, every time. Once you restart it and take it on the road, its gone.

it goes crazy on a dyno. i have had my dynoed twice so far. i really feel like it is a sensor or something small but who knows. i would totally let it ride and see if it works it self out if it didn't hijack the entire digital readout. i can see water temp, gas left in tank nothing. all i get is that stupid maintenance required light. and you know it is a $3X,000 dollar car, damn thing should work correctly for a little while at least! so i am going to see what the dealership says.

well i got cuious and did some testing. it must run the test for the ASC at 5 miles into your trip because that is when i get the light, on the dot, 5 miles. got three this morning and cleared the light each time and rest the trip counter and 5 miles sure enough it came back on. i also heard that it was the loud exhaust causing this problem. i can't get to my stock exhaust easily so i put the silencers i got for my exhaust in and i still got the light so either it isn't the exhaust noise/vibration causing it or the silencers didn't do enough to keep it from throwing the light. just for your FYI.

Did you check and see if the AWC fluid in the trunk is full? Maybe when the system checks every 5 miles it senses a low fluid level and pops that light on. I am not even sure what that fluid is, but I think it's a backup reservoir for the AYC system. This could be somehow related to your problem. Let us know.

well i got my car back from the dealer today. they seem to think they know what is wrong with the ASC system. they ordered and are going to replace the stop lamp switch(fp# 8614a018 (probably a dealership specific number but maybe not) $21.98). they say it is connected to the ASC system. anyone know for sure? anyway i won't be able to tell you until next week when they actually put it on if it fixes the problem or not. but i will keep you advised.

I heard about this. It's on the technical bulleton. I can't believe I forgot to mention this to you. I think Antic also told me that he started having ASC System problem after he switched some of his light bulbs in the rear.

No worries, any clue if it will continue if i don't switch back to regular bulbs? that is when it messed up then, because the nite before is when i switched the bulbs in the rear to LEDs. i am using leds for all lights on the rear and interior of the car. i really like the LEDs but am not interested in fixing this again of course. thanks.

Yep, its the LED tail light bulbs... DO NOT CHANGE THEM TO LED unless you add resistors.. ESPECIALLY THE BRAKE LIGHT BULB.

Thats what was causing the ASC light on mine to come on... .well that, and the faulty brake switch.

Once I took out the bulb, problem went away.

i have a little piece of new to report, i took the leds out of the rear end of my evo and replaced them with the regular bulbs. the ASC light doesn't come on after 5 miles anymore. which is great. but my dealership is still waiting for the stop lamp switch so i am still running on my old one. which means that there is nothing wrong with the one i have, the car just HATES LED brake lights. so i am going to do some tests this weekend to see which lights actually make it mess up. i am thinking it is just the brake lights but we will see.

LOL WTF did mitsu wire the ASC into the brake lamps for? I can't wait for the first accident caused by an ASC failure in the middle of a turn because a tail light went out...

well after some testing i figured out that you can change any bulb in the rear end that you would like as long as you don't mess with the 7443 (dual filament) brake light bulb unless of course you wire in some resistors to get the correct load. it is the one on the outside set of lights bulb nearest the trunk. i put LEDS in everything else and no problems. so i guess problem solved, or should i say worked around. thanks for everyone's help i do appreciate all the input.
