My EVO cost more for insurance than my GTO, Tahoe, ITR all together. Was 27 and married.

I've not seen ANY stock 1/4 mile published by a "reputable" source below 13.5. As another posted said, getting a 370z into the 12's will take more than 200# (.2 seconds) and 30hp (.1s? depends on gearing and a whole lot of stuff).

Ask anyone that's taken a car into the 12's and beyond. It's NOT an easy thing to do.
LMAO@magazine racers. Go find numbers from magazines for the Evo IX and compare them with the best driver's stock times from here. I gaurantee our times here are better.

I did put it in "" for a reason

bboypuertoroc:
I went through your list. There are 19 07+ 350z's in there.

Average: 13.66063.

The statistical outliers are either VERY good/VERY bad drivers, great/poor track setup, and or bull****ting.

That first one @ 107mph is just looking at me... a 2.027 60', 13.15 @107 just does not jibe with a 3200# car with 330hp at the crank.

ETA: Look here:
http://my350z.com/forum/3035915-post6.html

That's as fast or FASTER than people with boltons and slicks. Something smells here a bit.

It's a no brainer if you live in an area that gets snow: EVO.

I owned 2 300ZX's (an 85 and 86), and a good friend owned a 350Z. I guess I'm just a bit bored of them at this point. And every other dbag on the road has a G35 these days. I've yet to even see an EVO X in my area.

LMAO... I misread the "". My bad LOL.

It just comes down to people that know how to drive and people that dont. If you notice the best stock '03-'06 time is ran by the same person in the number two spot with an '07-'08.

Like I've said to others, Z's weigh in (on average) less than my Evo with 3/4 tank and no weight reduction (3190lbs). I was at a track day when I first bought my Evo with all of my Z buddies (I had a 350Z prior to my Evo). 75% of the Z's weighed in lighter than my Evo, some by big margins (~100lbs), and most with no weight reduction whatsoever and the same amount of fuel as me. The ones that came in heavier were the boosted ones and the convertables.

The people with the top times on the list have posted multiple vids and timeslips that show them backing up their times more than once.

But was it a "fast" track?

It's well known that some tracks are "faster" than others. Just like with dyno numbers, you can't really compare them :-/

I can try and find out what tracks they were if you want. I have no clue if they were on "fast" tracks.

Nah, I really don't care... Either the guy is a great driver, got a freak car or was on a fast track. Some combination there-in

I'd just be careful saying that 350zs go into the low low low 13's "frequently."

In any case, we've TOTALLY derailed this thread LOL.

Other forums also have anomolies like that 13.10 350z timeslip (there is one C6 LS3 vette claiming 11.9 stock where most of them do 12.3 to 12.6). Maybe the driver was 115 lbs with a good tank of high btu gasoline and he deepstaged the start on a downhill dragstrip (there actually are a couple) with a light tailwind... like was posted, the average 350z goes like 13.7 seconds at 104 mph or whatever.

I predict a nice 13.3s 370z average time slip so as to compete with 335's. I suppose somebody will get a 12.90 in perfect conditions soon enough, but it wouldn't be typical.

You obviously don't know much about Z's. HR 350Z's are only 07 and up. I know personally two people that have ran low 13's bone stock. Theres more of a power difference between HR 350Z than there is VIII to IX's.

350Z insurance is $45 a month cheaper than my 06 MR. Thats also a $40k grand touring model. Trust me I know what insurance costs. M3 is the only car I have ever had a quote on to be more expensive than the evo. Of course region plays a factor but generally are withing the same ballpark.

Rebuttal in bold... this is fun... kinda like the presidential debates except more important!!

Now answer this: what makes you think you know how the 370Z is gonna be on a track? Have you driven one? Do you know the EXACT specs? Do you know what tires and what size are on the car? Do you know if there's any changes in gearing? What exactly DO you know about the 370Z? My guess... not much at all, like the rest of us.

Ok.. so are you contradicting your 1st statement?

You drive a slow-pig G35... of course you think all VQ35s are slow. A 13.1@107 is very respectable for a car right out the box ('07 350Z).

Yes... I never got my G for the speed... and thats why I have an X as well... The 13.1 is the 330hp version... of the Z... now all VQ's react terribly to mods... and that is why... a person who is considering between an EVO X and a 370... should take the Evo if he is gonna mod it... and the 370 if he isnt...

More potential when spending the cost of a GT-R? LMAO. $40k car? LMAO even more. You can get a Z for under $30k easy, and as of now the price for a base 370Z is a **** hair under $30k. I mean ****, it ain't cheap to build and boost a Z, but it sure as hell ain't THAT expensive.

Umm lol... 370Z for 30K? show me... ok ... lets agree on 35K for arguments sake... if you end up spending 40K on the car... on labor, parts and your personal mechanic who drives w/ you... lol... dont take **** so seriously man... its a real downer... You really think you can build a reliable DD 370Z that will hold its own against a stock GTR for 80K?

Possibly... LOL. No, wait, not quite.

No, not contradicting it at all. None of us know for a fact how good the 370Z will be on track, but it's not gonna be a purpose-built "race" car like the NISMO Z of now (or the NISMO 370Z of later).

You drive a slow-pig G35... of course you think all VQ35s are slow. A 13.1@107 is very respectable for a car right out the box ('07 350Z).

What 330hp version of the Z is out yet? The 13.1 was ran by an '07 Z which is equipped with the VQ35HR which in stock form kicks out 306hp at the crank. The G37 and (as of now rumored) 370Z are the 330hp cars.

Yes, the 370Z is supposed to have a starting point of $29k and the Touring model (there's only two models this time around) is supposed to be starting at $35k. So you won't be spending $40k on the car itself. I don't spend a dime on labor so that won't count. Parts are the only expensive part when it comes to Z's (and built engines) and you could easily spend $20k for a built motor and twins. So there's $50k there. That leaves $30k to play with. I think I could build a daily driven GT-R killer for that much.
Responses in red.

Umm... you dont spend a dime on labor? how does that factor into anything? this is not a discussion about u... or your hook ups... but what the op can afford... here is the bottom line:

Wanna mod? get the evo... wanna keep it stock or spend a LOT on it... get the Z...
