I don't spend a dime on labor because I do all my work myself. No hookups at all.

That could be the same for anyone out there if they're willing to put in the wrench time and learn a thing or two about their own car.

I am going to loan my car to a couple guys that are the leaders in BS (one daily drives a VIII) to see just how bad a driver I am. We'll see what they can do that I can't
Just because the car is in BSP doesn't mean the car is prepped up to the full BSP spec. A lot of times people just have things put on the car that bumps them up to the class. A simple boost controller on a stock EVO simply bumps it up to SM or BSP, so you can't really just assume the car that you are comparing is a legit comparison.

The fact that your time is close to his doesn't mean much. Could be the car, could be the person driving it.

The new Z sounds like a really cool car. The possibility of 330+ hp, a shorter wheelbase, and 3100lbs would be worth waiting for. Especially if the MSRP is around 30k. I'd wait it out.

370z. The Evo X is just so ******* fat and heavy. It has an amazing awd system though and 4 doors. That's it. Also the Cobalt SS with no LSD has the same times as the EVO X MR LOL and gets smoked after 80mph!!!! Heavy 4 cylinders ftl.

I still like the Evo X though for what it is.

If you live in a snow belt like I do....get the EVO. Unless you like having two cars. For me it is getting tiring. Main reason at lookin at the X. or any EVO for that matter.

But if I lived in a non snow belt state. Easy. I would keep my Z06.

X vs 350Z: Modified versions

Fellas, I know this discussion comes down, in part, to a big pissing contest. But there are some simple facts and recent results that may clarify or muddy the waters depending upon your point of view. Specifically, it is has been demonstrated in many cars that AWD drive will outperform a two wheel drive vehicle on a track everything else being equal. But you say, "All things are not equal [Z vs 350Z], the crank horsepower differs, and weight,....etc. So how can the comparison be made you ask? One approach is to let all the stops out and modify these cars to the "nth degree" and then see who outperforms the other. Now it is true, the definition of the "nth degree" in modifications has not been defined; in short, it could be endless. That said, there was a test devised by Sport Compact Car's Ultimate Street Car Challenge that did , in fact, pit a mod'ed 350Z against a mod'ed EVO X; both had turbo's (350Z Twin) and used OEM ECU but reflashed. To quantify and simplify the degree of modifications the 350Z came in with 517WHP and the X 487. On the skidpad the X pulled 1.06 g, the 350Z 0.98 as expected. In acceleration, the X won by 1.4sec but around the road course the 350Z won by 0.25sec.
So these results for two cars that, power wise are quick close, could be viewed as counter to the AWD "dictum" alluded to above or just the small horsepower advantage of the Z. There are potential reasons for these track results one of which apparently is a weakness in the X's OEM rear diff (EVO X General/Congrats AMS) but that aside there is one critical difference that I think may put this specific comparison to bed. The Z had much deeper modifications than the X; rods, pistons, crank where all high performance aftermarket internals; the X had all OEM internals except the pistons. That is, the X had not, IMO, modified the engine to a similar degree and if so accomplished would have resulted in the X outperforming the Z.
Your thoughts on a discussion that has no end.

That is a personal choice you have to make.

Yes, this is true in the end but the earlier discussions have attempted to help him with his decision. Most , if not all (including my own) have focused on performance. But there is an esthetic aspect as well and that is the general appearance of the two vehicles.
Now for me the Z is a much better looking car in that it is a coupe and has a real sports car look. The X by contrast is a four door sedan and really looks like a hopped up roller skate. If it came to looks, I would have chosen the Z or GTR but went with X for performance which is number one for me. Just my two cents.

I went from a 2007 350z to a 2008 Evo X MR. Personally, I would wait for the 370z before deciding. Both are very capable cars but stock for stock I felt the 350z was a little better. Evo has much more mod potential but in stock form the 2007 350z will probably take the Evo x in most categories (except the quarter mile). Yes... I felt that the the Z cornered better than the Evo. The fattiness of the Evo really does take it's toll and the Lancer base of the Evo gives it a high center of gravity. The Z was designed more in the image of the traditional sports car and given the specifications of the 370z it should be even more capable.

Given all that, I still went with the Evo over the 350z because I plan on modding. The best thing you can do is test drive both and see which you like. A car is a large purchase and you should do everything you can to minimize any possible regrets.

Better get the nissan 370z... Then try racing in the wet then see which one is better...forgot about the dry... any car can be driven/ raced/ autocross in the dry.. But wet, different ball game!

But for me, I only drive AWD... and thats mitsubishi and Subaru!!

Buy the Z , and shut down this thread.. Mitsubishi= FORD of Japan... Funny...
