I have not seen ONE Evo X run as quick as the top cars on that list. Not one. Not even on a short, downhill track on a perfect day.

I can't wait to see these two cars battle it out on a track though... should be very close.
I like periods kinda like your m.....

lol... why so serious... but yea... lol havnt been there in a whiles... guess there are more Z's in the under 13.5... but the quarter mile for the 370 is similar to the qtr mile for the 135i yes? Iono... you sure those Z's were bone stock and those numbers are corrected?

LOL... they were stock... no reason to lie... some of them also had... the fastest stock times in the... DE-engine Zs... magazine times are in the mid-low 13's... with ~104 traps... but mags also were... running high 13's to low 14's... not even trapping 100... in the 350Z and they got blown... out the water...

Damn, it's hard to type like that. Takes a ****load of patience. People are just better off typing normal.

But you are doing the periods all wrong... they are meant to transition form one fact to the next or whilst you quote someone to omit certain nonsense they say which is irrelevant

See: http://www.geocities.com/athens/aege...r.html#Elipses

But back on point... those Zs have been running around for 2 years now... have a lot more time on the track... and lets not forget that there are other factors @ play... how warm was the track? how cold was it? how much air was there? was there a headwind? I am sure all those things working in your favor will put you closer by .4s ... not arguing that the VQ's dont have more power up top... hey I have one and I love it lol... and honestly am considering trading the G in for a 370 But would I take it to the track? prolly no just because to get from it the same performance I can get w/ my evo + about 4K in mods would cost me the Z + about 10-15K (to do safely lol)...

The new 370 has a fairly high power to value ratio and it looks like it will be a bit faster in some ways stock, but it still doesn't have a back seat or bad weather capability. It's not quite as brutal as a Corvette and is priced just under them.

The "which car is better" debate (135/335/370Z/evoX/more expensive cars) will still be alive and well. The throttle blip on downshift is too cool though.

Priced just under a Vette? It's priced WAY under a Vette (370Z starts at $29,500).

I bought an Evo X right before the 370z craze came out. I wish I waited and at least test drove one. Might have bought that instead.

With the current state of the Big 3, you can get a base coupe C6 for $39k, but the super base 370 is just a mythical beast -an advertising gimmick for the low MSRP. You probably couldn't actually find one anywhere. I'd be all for that, but you have to order a package to get the rev-matching downshift feature. I'd hope that you could get the mid level one for $34k.

I never did see a base 350z ever either (no hid's, base wheels etc). Nissan would likely lose a bit of money on every base model they make so I predict that they will make a few just to say they did.

I really like the car though... I would have seriously considered it if it had come out a year before. I bet Nissan wishes it had released a year before...now who's gonna buy it?

In Japan it is officially out:

http://www2.nissan.co.jp/Z/Z34/0812/index.html

Even the Nismo S tune is out, with pretty much the same upgrade as the Z33 upgrade, such as longer nose, side skirt, wing, diffuser, exhaust, coilovers and brakepads.

Base - 3263lbs
Version S - 3307lbs
Version ST - 3351lbs

336ps
HR was rated at 313ps, where it was 306bhp in the states, so it would be anywhere between 330-333bhp.

The early Z33's base model weighed just under 3100lbs (it was something like 3086lbs)

I agree with the above, it is very rare to find complete base models especially if the car is outside of its domestic market. For example, you will see a lot of 3 series in Germany running around with a 4 banger and cloth seats but not much elsewhere.
Dealers make the most money on accessories, then individual options, then package options. The base models also move very slow so dealers would try not to carry them.
Don't forget though, to some people $39k may be out of their budget while $34k is, but if you can afford both, base C6 coupe is clearly the winner, at least until we start seeing price slash on 370Z's 6 months or so after its release if the economy is still bad by then. If the 370Z sells at $26k, the two cars won't even be comparable.

The 370Z with its optional suspension package was benchmarked to the Porsche Cayman S. In track tests it hung with it.

The EVO X was beaten, not by a large margin, by the Cayman S in a track shoot out in Japan. Of course, with a few mods and a ECU flash, the EVO X would have beaten the Porsche.

Not necessarily. A loaded 370z with Sport and Premium packages could cost you close to what a brand new Vette will cost you.
