I have almost 17,000 km on an MR. For the most part... I love it... no major issues to speak of... with a little prodding, the dealership found the flashes, and (knock on wood) no issues with engine codes since the last flash...

Obviously, there are some rattles, which can be expected, but I just turn up the stereo...

I have noticed the starter issue mentioned earlier in this thread where, on rare occasions, the starter will crank longer than usual. Up to 15 seconds. It's never failed to start though.

Gas mileage...uhm... not so good... but, that's not why I bought it, and pretty sure I can speak for the vast majority of people on this forum...

Talking Happiness is AWD

For starters love the car , espescially coming from a 2000 z-24. The service people are alot better to deal with and are alot better at fixing my issues then Chevy. Now as for issues I have bad grinding notchiness 2nd to 3rd, have squeaky front brakes and the dealer says they are going to put new pads on next week, and just had the ecu flash for the bad rough idle. As for my last problem im curious if someone else has this, in 5th gear I will give it gas not all out just regular to moderate acceleration and it will hesitate or drop off almost like the throttle just fails for a split second then comes back. This happens very sparatic like 4 times since october but curious if it has happened to someone else.

13.5K since this mid August.

Never had any issues with the car, transmission is supposed to be what it is and so long as you adjust to it it is a damn fine 5-speed, clutch is still fine with lots of uphill starts and down shifting and very spirited driving but zero launches. I might be the only one but I like that the breaks squeaking sometimes. Heck I get disappointed when they don't, LOL.

No seat staples, or rough idle, or codes of any sort I just made sure to have the latest reflash before I took delivery.

It does run a bit rich which is true of all of them but will soon be fixed.

It is an Evo so yes you will get a few rattles here and there inside the car especially when it is cold. Also paint chips... I can live with them, show me a car without paint chips and I will show you a car that is not driven the way it was meant to if at all.

Oh and the Navi rocks!

Sorry for the longish review!

Had since April 08, 15.5k miles now, had the P1320 code pop up once before I got the 2nd factory reflash and also had the 5k+ rpm stutter before that reflash. The reflash fixed the code and I've never had it again, also fixed the stutter and it pulls to redline just fine now.

No seat issues, no major rock chip issues on the quarter panels like some people were having (this is even with questionable road conditions here in Lubbock, TX; lots of loose gravel).

The only thing that I have issues with is the rev hanging which I'm sure will go away with a tune and I melted a little piece of my rear diffuser off from heat/flames from the exhaust...fixed with a heat shield soon.

Love the car overall

Got it in May 08 and just hit 8000 miles. This is my first Evo and I came from a S2000/G35 Coupe. So far this is what I notice:

- Starter issue where it takes 5-15 seconds to start but only has happened 3 times.
- Even after the dealer reflash, I still have some rough idle and it still dies in the top end around 5500-6000 rpms... well not as bad as before.
- Rattle coming from the driver door panel I think? Also from the glove box.
- Stock tires are extremely loud especially at highway speeds (80mph).
- Not a problem just more of a wish, I wish there was more trunk space.

So far this is the best car I've ever owned. The handling is superb and so is the power. Can't wait to mod it already.

22,*** Miles so far, had the car since late March. Only problems I've had were, the broken hood latch, and a MAF Sensor crapped out. Besides that no complaints at all, deff dont regret buying this car at all.

I purchased my X Dec. 19 and now have 1200 miles. I needed a backseat and am coming from a S2000. After the factory reflash, the 5k rpm drop off is eliminated and pulls pretty smooth even on partial throttle. Still some erratic idle. Shifter has always been very smooth. It's notchy before warm up, but so what. The dash rattles bug me and I'm trying to track them down and add insulation. Main area is passenger side dash near windshield, it sounds like someone hitting the glass with a hammer when going over highway expansion joints. I'm coming from a car with very tight suspension as well and that was never the case with my S. My main concern is the gas odor in the oil.
I had the oil changed twice and 50 miles later it is still there. There's a good thread about this and hopefully a solution will be found. It's been too cold to really do any spirited driving so I don't have a good feel on it's handling yet.

281 Miles, I just picked it up last Friday. It had 181 when I picked it up. I noticed the starting issue. The car has the latest ECU flashes. I work at the Dealer so they took care of that before I started driving it. Also it was 10 degrees outside. That may also been why the gear box was grindy, but within the first 24 hours the gear box had already started to break in and seems to be fine. My biggest concern is that the clutch release is very very high for a car with only 300 miles. My STi was right off the floor with 46k on the clock and at least 50 auto-xs. I've never driven a manual car that didn't need a clutch and the peddle felt so high. My Civic was low, My Talon is low and My Mirage winter/rally-x car is low.

I have 344 miles on mine so far. Picked it up about 2 weeks ago. Already was on the latest reflash, but needed a new battery from having sat around on the lot a while. Shifting into second is a bit rough until the car warms up, then it is fine. I have a couple dash rattles, mostly due to the cold it seems. I had my car in to have the mudflaps installed and it spent a few hours in the warm maintenance bay. After that no rattles all the way home! The next day they were back (I wish I had a heated garage :P ). I haven't had any idle problems and I haven't been north of 5k rpm yet so I can't confirm any hesitation in the upper ranges. Maybe it's paranoia, but I think my oil smells a bit of fuel. I've been following the thread on that problem and I think I'll just pick up an AP to take care of it. It seems everyone might have that trouble to various degrees thanks to the rich stock tune.

So far I'm pretty pleased with it. My brother has an Acura TL and the Evo pales in comparison when it comes to creature comforts; Leather, heated seats, sound dampening, etc, all absent. Of course I'm not a luxury car guy, never have been. I like riding around in the comfortable car, but when I'm in the driver's seat I want the raw experience the Evo gives. I love the noises and laser sharp steering. The wave of power as the needle climbs the gauge and face pulling force of the big brakes. I have a pickup I can take if I want to get from point A to B like any old 4 wheeled motorized appliance, but taking a drive in the Evo is an event

How many others have experienced this problem? I just read through the main post on this and now I'm getting paranoid... Just curious as to how many people are experiencing this issue that haven't commented in the main thread, since it looks like a small contingent of people in that thread throwing around all sorts of paranoia-inducing "facts."

About to hit 9k miles and no major problems at all. Clutch is holding up well with a couple hard launches. No upper rpm hesitation likes others have experienced. No SES or ASC lights.
Only issues I have are small ones. My trans is still very notchy going into to 2nd and 3rd and my drivers seat has a spot where one of the staples is coming up. But like I said other then that its running great.

I have 11k now. purchased my car at feb' 08, so i'm averaging 1k/month. Did about 5-6 hpde track days & 3 autoX events. also got the first factory re-flash. Changed the oil twice so far, with the last oil change being at 5k/6 months. Oil looked like it preffered an earlier oil change intervale, so I'll be doing it at 3k/months from now on.

Car is stock save for the 1st factory reflash, tint, 2nd set of tires, and oem-mudflaps

Aside from the paint, the car has held up pretty well. Most of the damage was from the fenders. I added some oem mud-flaps, and that seemed to help somewhat. A full-body clear bra might be a better overall solution though.

Rattling isn't too bad. Only rattle I get is when the driver's window is down at a certain angle, but even that is inconsistent. my family's 08 civic hybrid w/ the same miles has more rattles. I am pleased with overall build quality.

As far as consumables go, I think they wear out fast if you do track events but will last if you only use it for street driving. I replaced the stock tires at around 5k mi with dunlop z1's (a bit grippier & more consistent than the stock advans imo). The pads are still there, but have around 20% front & rear. Air-filter needs replacing too, but that isn't uncommon for any car at 11k.

There was only 1 incident where my car refused to crank up, but interestingly it did so fine 5 mins later. not sure if this is will get worse later on.

Overall it's held up pretty well. Paint quality aside, I'm pleased with the car so far.
