-car purchased dec08. 1,900 miles so far as a daily driver and no major issues.

-there are some small things like the annoying shifter/gearbox rattle when cruising in 5th, rough idle (not sure if it has the 2nd reflash) and some clunky shifting...the midwest winter has had some extreme temps this year tho, so i can't blame it for being rough most days.

-i'm really am happy with the car so far and am very close to grabbing an AP and perrin or buschur exhaust in a week or so.

-i'm new to the forums but am really happy to have found them! look forward to hearing from other owners especially those around the IL/WI/IA area.

at about 1070 miles. only issue i encountered was a it was difficult to start the car twice. usually car cranks about 3-4 times to start but this time around it took nearly 10 cranks. currently, its back to normal, not sure what went wrong there.

The problems I had were with the dealer fit accessories, the battery and the FAST key. There was one more with the screeching brakes, but I found out that's just the way they come.

1) Both my Metallic Handbrake handle and the shift knob were badly fit. They came off into my hand. The shifter knob went bad twice. Of-course, I had it replaced by the dealer both times.

2) The battery went completely dead after about 9 months of ownership. The default black panasonic has been replaced under factory warranty with a different kind. I never got around to finding out what the new one is. This is a known problem but there is no recall for this, they are replacing on a case by case basis. Used roadside assistance to start up the car to get it to the dealership.

3) The original fast key went bad because it was intolerant to being stowed in the same pocket with a cell phone. There is a TSB out on this and they replaced the keys for me. I had to use Roadside assistance here again to tow the vehicle to the dealership (My fault since I dint know that I was supposed to insert the back of the manual key into the FOB for it to work in manual mode too).

4) The front brake rotors were found to be glazed during my 9000 mile service. Apparently Mitsu allows one free Rotor cutting before 10000 miles and I got it done. The problem has been much less pronounced since then.

All these are not really very big problems, but I was satisfied with the service quality on each occasion. Its all about going to the right dealer I guess.

My hydraulic pump went. Probly due to the extremely cold weather during December. My dealership said only 1 evo x that they sold held up in the sub -30 degree weather. Good thing for warranty the claim was upwards of $3000.

They also don't put block heaters in these vehicles. This means multiple cold starts in the winter. Not good for pumps or crank bearings.

When this happens are you by chance parked on a slight to moderate incline? This has only happened once for me on my Evo, but did happen on a couple occasions with my previous lancer. In all cases I was parked with the front of the car elevated. I'm not talking very steep either. I just figured the fuel was allowed to drain back and it took a little longer for the pump to prime the lines again. I don't know for sure, just a guess.

Oh no, trust me, I have been to even some Toyota dealerships with my best manners and still got treated like ****. Believe it or not, there is such a thing as a "Bad dealership". But the attitude almost always helps.

27,751, no really big problems like the other owners said. Need new brake pads, prolly new tires from going up ramps 60 mph can't help it and trouble starting the car which seems to becoming common placed among evo owners.
