oil leak?

My gsr is lil over two months old and after a short drive, i notice smoke coming from under my hood. I popped the hood and it looked like it was coming from the turbo but i am not positive because it has the heat shield on it. I just had it at the dealership on monday for its first oil change. I called the dealership to see if they recorded if my oil was low but of course they didnt. I dont wanna take anything off cause i heard dealerships are stifflers when it comes to warrantys. Any ideas?? I searched and could not find anything. I am pretty sure it smelled like burnt oil.

Take it back to the dealer.. you're under warranty, right? I don't know how any of us here could help you if you don't want to take anything off the car to see where the leak is coming from.

I started looking and noticed the cover you take off to get to the oil filter and plug is missing. Thanks South Hills Mits for not installing. It was just there on monday! Its definately coming from either the turbo or where the oil feed line is connected to the block.

then take it back and have them replace the missing part and look into what is causing this. You should of just change the oil yourself, its one of the easiest thing to do on the car. I know you had to pay a good amount for the stealership to change your oil.

Don't let that dealer touch your car again! Just do your own oil changes from now on..

I got the first 5 oil changes free. Thats what i got outta them when i bought my car. I would think any person with a brain could change an oil. Its as easy as putting gas in you car. Seriously!

i just check where the car has sat since monday night and there is acouple drops of oil on the garage floor(about the size of a half dollar). Looks like its coming from the area of the turbo(back of the block). I still cant believe how dumb the dealer is. I am questioning if they even changed my oil cause when i checked it to see if it was low, it was already black. I smelled it and it started to smell like exhaust (like it usually does when it needs changed). Whatever you do, do not go to south hills mits in PA. I am about to find a different dealership.

Yeah, its easy to change the oil, but a pain really to do at home! U have to buy some ramps, etc. Now a truck is a different story. I used to change my own oil in my Toyota pickup, and my Ranger. FYI, I just had my first oil change on Monday as well at the dealer, and they charged me a wooping $18.00. I brought my own case of Mobil 1 I bought from Wallymart. For me anyway, it's just easier to take it to the dealer.

The thing that pi$$es me off the most, is when they took the cover off to change the oil they had to see it had oil on it. I had some on my floor after a 24 hour period. So it had to have a decent amount on it cause the chances it started to leak monday night after the oil change are very slim. My chances of getting struck by lightning and winning the powerball at the same time are probably more likely to happen haha

The fine automotive technician who worked on your car at the dealership probably didn't tighten the oil filter all the way, along with forgetting to re-install the bottom cover back on. That's why i never, ever take any of my cars (past and present) to the dealership to get worked on unless absolutely necessary. And even then, i pretty much stand right by the service bay keeping a close watch on the work being done. And the dealership can keep their free oil changes; i'd rather have them give me the 5 free oil filters and plug washers.

1+ It is very hit or miss at some dlrs with regards to quality of work! I must say I am always on pins and needles when I have taken my cars in for something as basic as a oil change. This was also my first time at this dlr, so I did feel I was playing Russian Roulette with my EVO. Now, Subrau is a different story all together! I never stressed about taken my 07, or my 08 STI's in for service!

The only thing extra that you should have to buy besides the oil is a drain pan, about $8 at WM.

You dont need ramps, I use a jack, drip pan, ratchet with socket, wrench, and a torque wrench. Takes but a couple of minutes and I now I will not forget to put parts back on, plus I save $18 that I could use for oil money for my next oil change. $18 or not that is a waste of money just to be lazy, call me cheap if you want, and guess what I pump my own gas as well.

I just got home from the dealership and after they reinstalled my cover they found the leak i blew a transfer case o-ring and you cant order just the o ring so they are ordering me the entire transfer case. They also told me for the 2010 evo's if you go over 8000 rpms you will throw a code you cant wipe off. The only way you can reach that high on a stock evo X is missing a gear and down shifting on accident. Has anyone heard of this?
