It's been a good 2 year run, but the day has come for me to get rid of my POS Evo, and trade it in for something far nicer. I'm headed down to the Infiniti Dealership to trade the Evo in for a brand new G37.

The Evo is fun and fast, but after two years and having to threaten to sue Mitsubishi to get them to fix my car, I hate Mitsubishi with every fiber in my body. They are a horrible company, and don't give a crap about the customer. Thousands of dollars in legal fees could have been avoided by them just fixing my car, but no.... I had to get a lawyer involved for them to bat an eye. A load of horse **** IMO.

My car still sometimes doesn't start in the morning when it's cold. It still throws a random P1235 code even though Mitsubishi did everything in their power to fix it. The steering wheel controls often do the wrong action. The paint is chipped in more places than on my old 1995 Pickup that I drive in the dirt, rocks, and snow. The Evo NEVER sees snow or dirt and has the worst paint I've ever seen on a car. The TC-SST is awesome, but its automatic mode programming was done by a complete moron who didn't know anything about driving a car in the city. I could keep going on and on, but I'll stop there.

Extremely fun car, but I can't deal with it anymore. Things are becoming a problem left and right, and with the warranty about to expire, I just don't want to have to deal with the problems that will come up. I also promised Mitsubishi that if they didn't lemon law my car, that I would never purchase another Mitsubishi vehicle ever again. I plan on keeping my word. Mitsubishi Corporate is awful.

Goodbye Evo community. It was fun while it lasted. Hope many of you have a car that is better than mine has been...
I guess I'm confused - So you are saying you didn't like your Evo or Mitsubishi? Don't mince words, tell us how you really feel.

Interesting read.. Although I don't see why you're taking out your bitterness on everything associated with Mitsu. Products can be defective and reading from other members your car had been previously modded. Seems like you just dealt with the wrong people. I've owned 2 Evos and no serious issues.. Either way, enjoy your new car. Sorry about your experience.

Did your car still have a valid warranty? Personally I wouldn't have bought an mr since it was the first year that Mitsubishi used a automatic in a turbo car and it was bound to have problems. Some idiot who couldn't drive stick probably got the car, beat the **** out of it because it was their first turbo car and traded it in all messed up. I just bought a mildly 08 GSR and checked the carfax and I even called Mitsubishi to see if there was a valid warranty on the car. I found out everything I could about the car before I bought it. Sure there are small clips and such that had to be replaced, the brake pads and rotors need to be changed, and it's going to need new tires but I was expecting that.

Just hope you are happy with the new car. Just be prepared to pay out he *** for modding the g37. My mechanic tries to avoid working on the transmissions due to all the worn that is involved.

not only that, but Nissan Tunned the VQHR Engine to squeeze as much power out of it as it could in N/A form so they are not detuned like evo's

you will need to get Bardabe Performance or Stillen Gen 3 Intakes in order to see some gains. (mine are 350$ stillen are 500$) and less than 10WHP Gain. Dyno Tuning is about 600$ Because the nissan ECU is not open source so you have to get a licence and have an Uprev/Osiris tunner do the tuning for you. that's about a 15whp gain, testpipes and cat back about another 5 -10whp all together.

at that point you are almost 2-3K deep into it depending what brand parts you bought and who did your labor. and still not even at the 300whp mark.

Twin Turbo kits for the cars are all at about 8K or so. but at that point any warranty you ever dreamed of is Void.

I'm in it with the forum members. for the Money spent go get a 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 or a C6 Corvette

There's a couple of things wrong with that statement. The SST is not an automatic in the traditional sense in that it doesn't have a torque converter. Mitsubishi has used standard automatics in turbo cars in the DSMs and the Galant VR-4 and the Lancer Evo VII GTA as well as other non high performance applications. This is their first SST but they started selling the car a year before they introduced it to the States.

You're wasting gas by owning an evo, no offense...

This is why I advise anyone to buy a high performance car like an evo brand new so they know what has been done to it. You thought you were, and got burned

I did buy mine new, and haven't had any of these issues. I clear bra'd the car when I first got it, avoiding the paint issues, to my knowledge you're the only one throwing a p1235 code randomly... plain and simple you bought a lemon.

It is unfortunate that you had to go through the means you did to sue , so I understand your frustration there. But the plain and simple fact is, if you bought a new car, the odds of all this happening get closer to zero.

I wish you luck with your new endeavors, I don't think you're going to be as satisfied with the g37 handling and power characteristics, but who knows, it may be exactly what you're looking for. Good luck

To add, this X MR is my fifth mitsubishi, I haven't had anything major go wrong with any of them. Biggest issue I've had is a input speed sensor on the OZ Rally go out. As far as I'm concerned, cars are some of the best reliability I've had.
hey man, i agree with you mostly. when i was looking for my evo i had to have a brand new one just so i wouldnt have someone elses problems. but even brand new i did. i bought the last black gsr in the country and had it shipped from vegas to nj. like i said i didnt care i had to have a new one. anyway, after waiting 2 months for my car to get here (dealership was slow as hell). i finally picked it up and found several things wrong with the car. the dealership was almost impossible to deal with.

first the intake duct was not pinned down so the engine was literally chocking over 3k rpms. secondly i got a car with 1/4 of a tank of gas. next i found out someone tried breaking in my car when it was at the dealership (not sure which one) and there were scratches on the car and the weather stripping was pierced in many places from the screwdriver they used. next the guys from the dealership went joyriding in the car AFTER they had it detailed. i found mud prints underneath the rear floormats?! and finally after they told me the car had next to no miles on it i found out it had over 550 miles?! under 100 miles i can understand. from test drives. and it sat on the lot for a year and a half. but 550?

i wish i didnt have these problems when i bought it new but i still did. not everyone is gonna get what they pay for

None taken. We are ALL wasting gas by not having a Prius, Jetta TDI, or walking. So your point is?

I think he meant you're not driving the Evo the way it is meant to be driven.

Now go and internet fight each other!

It is definitely the G35 in most people mind, right? How about today which one would you drive or the coolest between those two, the g35 or the EVo?
In the close future the G37 will be just as obsolete as the previous one's, but the EVo will stay as an EVo for loooong time. Even the EVo 3 is cool if you see one on the streets, who remembers for the 10+ year old infinty?

LOL

Exactly...i was one of those that got an 06 G35 Coupe instead of getting an STi or EVO...all because i wanted to look extra sexy for the chics lol...I was so happy i leased that car. I owned Hondas/Acuras before getting the G, and they all drove better. It was luxury "performance' but couldnt perform...if i tried to even softly launch the car, the clutch pedal would stick to the floor and slowwwwwly come back up...not cool. In the winter the car would clunk very loud until it warmed up. But the worst was the engine cooling issues. It would EAT up oil fast. I would never make it pass 2000 miles before changing the oil. I mean bone dry...the dealership was GREAT, but never resolved the problem. I didnt go crazy because it was a lease. But if i financed i would have been pissed off. The best thing about Infiniti was their customer service at the dealership, but i got the same treatment at Acura. I got the X after the lease was up on the Infiniti. Love the car and the Mitsubshi dealership i got the car from (Bell) is cool. I bought my car used with 6000 miles on her..im at 42000 miles now, no problems and still on stock clutch. If you are looking to drive your car hard, Infiniti is not the move. You have to baby the car....thats what the dealership told me when i complained about the clutch making noises when changing gears...he told me i couldnt even keep my hand on the gear knob when stopped at lights...lol yea whatever dude
