Adios Evo Community
Wow, lol. I think it's pretty funny my post got so many of you so riled up. If you had gone what I went through with Mitsubishi and my car, you would feel the same way.
I may have made a mistake by purchasing a used Evo, but that's far from the whole problem. ONE problem, of many many many problems I had, was because the car was used/modified. Every single other problem I had, was something I've seen many other Evo owners experience.
Those that don't understand my issue with the Evo, and why I had to threaten to sue mitsubishi: I purchased the car with the understanding it had NOT been modified, except for lowering springs. I figured out it had been modified, and the Mitsubishi dealer tried to void my warranty. I got a lawyer and got the dealer to do the warranty work and replace the parts that were aftermarket (an exhaust down pipe). The dealer sold the car to me stating it hadn't been modified, and with the warranty intact. Once they decided to work on the car, they had it for more than 2 months, and still couldn't figure out the issue. 2 months out of the first 9 months I owned the car, is ridiculous. The dealer didn't know what to do, and Mitsubishi did nothing and didn't seem to care until I got a lawyer involved. Then they made a final attempt to fix the car, which seemed to work, but reappeared after 6 months. What they were doing was trying to delay the process so that the car would be older than a year, making it impossible to make a lemon law claim.
Both dealers I dealt with were awful. I actually feel sorry for Mitsubishi having to claim Skyline as one of its dealerships. What a hole in the wall. Mile High Mitsu is much nicer, but even there the service manager just pumped bullsh!t up my a** the entire time. At one point I was waiting for them to finish working on my car, and the guy said to me "He's almost done. He's just bleeding the clutch master cylinder". Oh really? My TC-SST has a clutch master cylinder eh? Seriously, STFU if you don't know what you are saying.
Why did I buy an Evo? Because I thought I was buying more than motor with a turbo connected to a tranny, for $40k. I didn't do much other research, and I hate Subaru's so there was no considering it. I owned an 09 Lancer GTS and didn't have a single issue, so the progression was natural. And with all the love from the Evo community, how could I go wrong? I loved driving that car, but when every press on the gas pedal was a potential code getting thrown, it got old. Top it off with rattles and the overall noisy interior of the Evo, and you're got yourself a $40k go-kart. I never felt like I was in a $40k car.
Now, a week after trading in the car, I FEEL like I am driving a $40k car. Comfort, features, quiet, smooth. I am 32 years old. I don't need a kid's car where every time I'm driving, some high schooler wants to race me or a cop wants to pull me over. I have 4 doors, which is important to me, and enough power that it's only a half second slower than the Evo in 0-60. I researched for months. Looked at Audi, BMW, Acura, Lexus and Infiniti. I was looking for a car in the $40k range, same as the Evo. The G37 won it in every category, which is crazy because I thought the Lexus IS350 would win it. I didn't really care for any of the other cars. I do not miss the Evo, but I kinda thought I would. I will spend less money on the G than the Evo. Lower monthly payment, lower insurance costs, lower fuel costs, zero maintenance costs for 4 years. In every way, it's a win/win situation. The only thing I am losing is a bit of explosive power, and some handling. But the gains far outweigh the losses. Besides, if I throw a turbo on that car, it'll devour a stock or even mildly modified Evo. But, that's not AT ALL my intention.
You can all tell me that Nissan/Infiniti are crap and problematic, but you'd probably also say the same no matter what vehicle brand I spewed out. Fact is, I was not looking for an Evo "replacement". I was looking for something nicer, and more refined. Also, something I've never bought before. Some of you are so loyal to a brand, that you are afraid to take a chance and buy something you've never bought before. I've never bought the same brand car twice, except for my upgrade to the Evo from the Lancer. I've been through Toyota, GM, Chrysler, Ford, Mitsubishi, Dodge, Honda, and now Infiniti. The same thing over and over again is boring, and I like to change it up. Besides, I've got 3 other vehicles I like to have fun with. If I don't like my Infiniti after a few years, then I'll get something else. It just won't be another Mitsubishi.
One last thing I will say about the Evo, is how much I loved that TC-SST. Those of you who talk down about it, don't know what you're missing. It's a fabulous piece of equipment, made to be driven in manual mode. The automatic programming is awful (for city driving), but I bet it's pretty dope on a track in super sport mode. The off-the-line performance is a little strange and takes some getting used to, but beyond that, the shifting is lightning quick, and very accurate when driven in manual mode. The manual owners can talk and talk and talk about how a manual is better all around (I prefer a manual to an automatic), but the TC-SST is a different beast. With a little work, it could be the perfect transmission, IMO.

Hey webman, sorry to hear about your dealership troubles. Honestly the dealership is mitsu's biggest weakness. The trick is to threaten legal action if they are giving you the run around. FYI a good legal speak act to bring up is the - Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuson-Moss_Warranty_Act. Everyone knows about the lemon law, but if you bring up the Magnuson Moss act you will sound even more like you know what you are talking about regarding warranty coverage.
About your kid car comments, I'm just glad I got the wingless Evo. It's a complete stealth/sleeper car and I don't get any attention on the road. People assume it's a base lancer until I'm 5 car lengths ahead on the high way merge ramp.

IMHO.
I agree about the LED DRL, but they also have their own function - they weight less then traditional DRL's.
As far as the wing being functional, I'm sure it is, just not at the speeds I am daily driving.

There's no way in hell I drove the Evo to even 70% of its full potential. The power got used, but the handling did not. It was almost a joke having that much handling, and nowhere to use it. Even in the mountains, it was simply overkill. To be able to go 130mph on a 50mph canyon road, is beyond unnecessary. I'm sure the G will corner that same road at 90mph, just fine.
Aside from loss of explosive power and handling, how will the Infiniti bore me?

Well... you're going to get bored because the platform itself is limited as is the community support. Its just a luxury "sport" car in a sea of such cars. Its just not that exciting. Plus all the chrome is gross.
Not a bad car... certainly luxurious.

Bored how? Because I now can only accelerate to 60mph in 5.5 seconds instead of 5? Because I can only take a corner at .9g instead of the .96g like the Evo? Aside from those two things, how is the Infinity more "boring" than the Evo, aside from looks?
