Evo X Side Jacking Point

As topic, is it alright if i jack the car up on the side through the chassis rail ? Further down the stock jacking point stated in the manual.

This is with a trolley jack

I do it all the time when changing wheels at auto-x :-p Just be careful you're not on the plastic lip of the side skirt. You can also use the frame too. If you need just the back of the car, use the diff as jack point.

I use a floor jack + hockey puck (thanks SiliconTek) and it works perfectly, my rails still look brand new. Works great on the rear diff too.

this topic always pops up every now and then....
I've used the frame rails and worked fine, probably best to have something like rubber to take spread the impact out.

Also, anyone think using the subframe rails(the 3 inch wide rail just inside the frame rail that is coated) is a good idea? I've thought about trying that next time since its nice and wide.

I would not use the frame rail or subframe rail. A friend bent the frame of a *Miata* doing that.

Jacking the car up on the sides is such a PITA anyways esp. if you are trying to put jackstands under it that I don't know why you would never use the suggest front and rear points.

I use the side because my jack cant fit in through the front. car is too low.

No, I wouldn't worry about a little bend.

I don't use the front because you have to remove the freaking underpanel to get to the front jack point.

Oh goodness, changing wheels 3 times per day at the track and you should see my rails. We jack at about mid point on the front door, maybe a little closer to the front, and lift them whole side to do two wheels at a time. Works fine.
