My ? to you Evo X owners is what are the weak points in the X's? Ive heard a few things such as the rods dont hold up much over 350ft lbs of trq and the transmissions are weak etc. Please enlighten me of what problems you guys are aware of. The car would be a daily driver with bolt ons, cams and maybe a little bit bigger turbo to start with.

Thanks
The weakest point of this car is its notchy shifting. Other than the fact that you can't carry a whole lot in the truck, and the car guzzles gas like if you lived in Venezuela.... it's a great car.

50,000km of daily and track use, the tranny is fine, the engine purrs and I am not talking stock!

If you're that concerned, maybe you should buy new? There are literally more things that could potentially be wrong with the car than anyone here could list. See if you can have an independent mechanic stop by and look at the car before buying it.

both are great cars, but for the price difference save the $ and get the IX and spend the money you saved for mods. Both cars have pros and cons, but for most of the driver you are not going to feel the weakness in each. Unless you abuse it.

Lol I'm actually an Audi tech. I was just wondering since 2008 is the first year of Evo X and I'm sure there was bug or known issue that need to be addressed. Few things I read is transmission issue, but if it's early stage how would i know something is wrong. Only reason why I ask is you guys own Evo X so you guys have had experience with it.

My stock exh camshaft broke in half on my 2010 while I was just cruisin, car never gets abused or raced. I only had a catback and drop-in filter installed at the time. I think I must be the only one in the world with this problem so far.

Getting warrantied though, so thats a plus.

I haven't had any bad experiences, but then again, I have an '11. *shrug*

I know that there were a few recalls for a few different things, but you can just check the VIN to ensure that those recalls have been completed.

So since mitsu's fix is a more hardened CMC ring, what is stopping us from buying an ams reinforcement ring when doing our clutch?

My 2010 MRT- bought her 12-15-10 as of October I put 30K+ miles and not one mechanical issue! Mitsubishi makes great cars if you don't mod them. My 05 EVO never had a servise issue for the first four years untill I saterted the mods is when the problems started. If you keep her stock she'll last forever and never break down.
If you want more fun start the mods, but be warned issues will happen!
GL and play safe.
