Concern about the MR and what it can handle?

I used ti have a IX, was a solid DD for two years no problems and ran low 11's, on the stock turbo and motor. I just sold my Audi RS4 and want to get back into evos but honestly just really like the look of the X's now, I wasnt a fan when they came out originally.

Anyways, Ive been struggling to find one that seems to be priced fairly, and I found a good deal on a 2010 MR with some nice bolt ons. Im just concerned that this car really wont be able to match my old evo in terms of matching the power and reliability(while being a weekend warrior from time to time). Even though I kinda like the idea of switching to an auto for awhile since I havent had one in forever.

here is a list of the mods that are already on the car:

ETS V2 Quiet Exhaust
ETS Test Pipe
ETS Down Pipe
ETS UIC Pipe
ETS Intercooler ...with extra 1/2in. thick option.
ETS Cold Air Intake...still in the box never installed but included in sale to winning bidder.
Cobb Access Port
Go Fast Bits Blow Off Valve
Lowered with Eibach Springs

only thing id probably add to this list for a bit would be the LIC Pipe

appreciate all feedback guys and gals

If drag racing is your thing and you want to have a low 11 second ride than the SST Evo X is not for you. It is going to take a ton of money and effort to get one of those cars to run like that. And even then, I don't know how reliable it will be.

You might want to look into a GT-R. Those things can consistently run low 11's pretty much out of the box which would mean they do it reliably.

The Evo X is a bigger and heavier car than the IX was which can be felt.

Power shouldn't be an issue since these cars can be built nicely. Its the transmission that needs to be looked at closely. I have a GSR so I don't particularly look at this sort of info but from my understanding the TC-SST requires at the very least better fluid to keep things cool. They do have a tendency of overheating with track use on stock cars. With the mods listed you're definitely going to run into issues if you go for a track day or drive hard.

Might want to address that next over the LIC Pipe (which doesn't add much power on an X).

thanks guys, Im not interested in a GTR though, dont wanna spend that much on a car right now lol.

Ill probably lean towards the GSR though now, Id be happy with just whats already done on the car and wouldnt feel the need to gain more power, even if it was a little shy of breaking into the 11's. But if whats already done to the car is already pushing it then I dont know if I feel comfortable going the MR route

On that note though do remember that a stock GSR clutch is pretty fragile. If you plan on building the car you may want to pick up a sturdy clutch kit to go with the power.

True it's easier then beefing up the guts of the TC-SST but still you need to be aware of it too.

yeah because if you go the MR route, mods to get it to run that way will come close to a used GT-R

This discussion has been hashed out in this very thread at least 30 times this year alone. The X is heavier and will absolutely require more power to make it as fast as the IX.

The SST does not require as much power to move it around a track or down a drag strip compared to a GSR. The SST never makes a mistake period. I have taken my MR to the track a few times and never had an overheat problem, and I live in Texas. Yes I have an upgraded cooler but I'm also pushing over 450 hp and 400 tq to te wheels on a mustang dyno.

Admittedly the maintence is pricey compared to a GSR but dumb dumb mode is very enjoyable.
