Oil change every 3K miles or 5k miles?

Hi,

2012 Evo - factory printed manual states every 3000. The MMCS nav unit says next one should be in 5000 miles.

Which is it? And why can't Mitsu get the story straight?

3000 miles.

the one on your MMCS can be changed to whatever schedule you want.

I just do it at 3000 miles typically (or have done it sooner if it's been driven particularly hard during an extended period, like a straight drive from AZ to FL only stopping for fuel and restrooms).

May as well protect your investment!

Do yourself a favor and get a $25 UOA. This will tell you really how long you can run on X Brand of oil.

I use to do 3000 miles then change it, but that was with my 650awhp pump gas evo 9, on my evo 10 I do 5000 miles even a little higher because it doesnt get abused that much.

There was someone on here last year that is putting down just under 400whp and does auto-x and they sent their oil out to be tested at 3k miles, and the lab showed it looked great and suggested doing the next change at 5k.

This however, could change based on use and weather greatly. So I would suggest 3k, if you can't get it done because life stuff comes up and you let it go till 4 or 5k, you'll be fine.

I do 4k or 5 months whichever first which is always the months. Personally 3-5k is A ok in my book with a full synthetic. I don't race/track my car so I'm perfectly fine with my oci.
