1st oil change

Hit 3,000 miles and did my 1st oil change today Mobile1 5w-30 synth extended performance. I've seen a lot of threads saying the new evos take conventional oil but in my owners manual it say to run synthetic for better engine and turbocharger performance

Never ever ever ever ever ever put conventional oil in your Evo. It blows my mind that some people would risk the longevity of their motor over $20 (if that) every 3000 miles

+1000
Yes, Mitsu has apparently determined that you will get at least 60,001 miles on a stock Evo with conventional oil. My goals however are a bit higher...

Nice! I plan on doing the same, though 3000 miles is kind too much for me. An oil change for me is 5k-7k miles.

Nice! I've been running Mobil 1 EP as well! I've read it's a great oil.

Do you recommend using the EP over traditional Mobil 1 oil?

Nice! Amsoil is is good stuff too though! I prefer the Mobil 1 EP due to its price and from the research I did online it seems like a very good oil.

Well from what I've read, Mobil 1 EP is a class IV oil that is a "pure" synthetic as opposed to the class III conventional base + additives that standard Mobil 1 has become. I do not think it is a HUGE difference and oil analysis of both oils is pretty positive.

Any issues just swapping over? I am about to do an oil change this weekend. Appreciate the input!

You do know Mitsu specs 3k miles oil change intervals for both regular and severe maintenance schedules?

No problem! And no issues at all. I still change my oil every 3k and have only done 3 oil changes so far (all with Mobil 1 EP).
