My '14 MR also has a whine when I start it in the cold. It goes away after maybe 10 seconds. I cant imagine there's anything wrong with the car

UPDATED

the noise came back, and i took it to a different place and they said it was airduct leaks, they are fixing it at the moment, will update you where exactly this is from

but from what i was told over the phone it was connected to the engine itself, lets see what they tell me when i get the car back tomorrow

will post pics where it is from if they are willing to show me

Make sure they get the basement air ducts and top you up on your headlight fluids...dangerous thing to let them run low in winter...

Golly. Too bad no-one warned you that the noise might have gone away last time because it got warmer outside. Here we are, in another cold-snap, and the noise is back. Gosh.

ps. wake me up when the PS pump is checked

Is your car under warranty? Did you have to pay the dealer to fix the hole in the intake hose?

it actually got colder when it came back idiot

also it is the front two air ducts right after your pull the bumper off, they showed me where the cracks were

so you are still wrong, so gtfo

This is getting better and better.

I'm going to assume that you aren't talking about the shrouding, but are talking about the IC piping. (There's no way that someone could believe that cracks in the shrouding could cause noises when the car wasn't moving.)

This is actually a step in a positive direction, because we're now talking about something that actually needs to holds boost, in contrast to the intake piping which only ever sees vacuum.

But we still have two little problems with the (new) story. First (and if you look back, you'll see that I've been wondering about this from the start), your car isn't throwing any codes. Second, leaks in the IC piping don't cause the noises that are heard when playing your video.

But if you'd prefer to call me an idiot, carry on.

I know this is old, but I love threads like this:
-asks for help
-gets help, refuses ideas and takes to dealer (post #30, btw. so yes you did take it there)
-gets smoke blown up *** by dealer
-calls people helping him idiots

Edit: If anyone reads this, don't take his advice and get dealer screwed. That is a PS pump whine, common when cold because fluid is thicker and so the pump works harder to get started. Not a problem, just let it warm up so you don't try to steer with thick fluid and pop a seal. Then it's a problem.
