he said if there is problems again there would be no issues with the warranty.

the oil leak was because the studs weren't fully torqued in the front corner. passenger side.

now the used car dealer is working with the 3rd party warranty company, he explained to me that if the aftermarket ppart is specifically designed and engineered for the car they will most likely cover it. so hopefully they can reimburse me the repair cost. but I think in the end this bill is on me.

thanks, for all the replies. I didn't expect so many on my 1st post
That's because there is limited clearance on those two studs. You need a T55 deep torx (which I bet most people don't have) and either a thin walled or ground down socket to properly torque them. Sucks but better you found out now and if it leaks again the dealership should warranty it.

If you bought from a dealership, go back to that same dealership if you can.
If it's a private seller - did he tell you it was stock? What specific wording did he use?

I just find it odd that an '11 with 11k miles would have non oem head studs.
I got it from a dealership. and the seller told me its still under factory warranty.
I bought a extended warranty also.
he told me if the engine grenades it woud be covered still.

now I think the previous owner just bolted everything back to return it to stock.

Now, Based on my Experience, You do have another option. Tell them you dont want repairs completed and you want the car back in the same condition you brought it to them in, and you i think are only liable for labor costs at that point? You get off with them putting your car back together and likely torquing everything properly!

By law they have to return the car in the same working condition as you brought it in with.
I had to do this with my 1989 Toyota pickup, because i thought the first mechanic i took it to was taking me for a ride on my expense.. 3500$ to rebuild the motor completely! Like stated above, i also never asked him to pull the heads off and i never asked for anything other than a Thermostat replacement and a coolant flush. He went ahead and did everything else on his own. Without asking, and the only thing we had in writing was for the coolant flush and t-stat replacement.

Now i don't know if you gave permission for them to pull the head and all that, but just a tid bit of info, that info actually came from the first mechanic i went to that i took it out of his shop. and in the end, only paid the 100$ that was written up on the estimate. Maybe someone else can help explain this or elaborate if they know more than i do.

Or if they refuse to warranty the job because the motor has been previously tampered with, I would pull the car from the dealer, pay them for the labor to take the car apart to the point it is at, and take it to a reputable speed shop. There are plenty of shops that are supporting vendors on here that have experience with these cars.

I got the car back drove it , still kept going into limp mode.
and I checked under the hood and my oil leak seemed worse.
and I spotted where it was coming from. Some Mivec Solenoid Oil feeder valve thing was not in place and bent apart.

Fixed it in like 15mins then took it to english the next day to get tuned not a problem since. Long story short, there was never any head gasket leak.

So the MIVEC spool valve was leaking oil and they said it was a head gasket? I really hope you got your money back.

I had an incident when I had a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8 a few years ago. I purchased it with an extended warranty from the dealership. Shortly after water would leak in along the passenger A-pillar whenever it rained really hard. The dealer said it was the aftermarket windshield that was on the truck and wouldn't cover it. Since I bought the Jeep out of state, and a windshield was relatively cheap, I didn't really care. They installed a new oem windshield and sure enough it still leaked. In the process the monkeys managed to fray the entire leading edge of the head liner, break a bunch of interior clips, installed an aftermarket molding tht didn't fit right, got dirty finger prints all over the interior, and left empty glass juice bottles in the back seat. So now I had over $1600 in damage for something that never needed to be done. Turns out a sunroof drain as clogged. They tried to stick me with the bill fore a new headliner but when I threatened legal action the backed down and fixed it. I never went there again.

I'm never going back to them for work either. They didn't even hook my vacuum line back up, the person told me it was aftermarket. And my trunk was dented from them pushing it. popped right out luckily.
