2015 evo X
It's the final year, they simply don't care. They know people will buy it because it's still an Evo. They are milking it for all it's worth. While what you said is true I can't blame them too much, they are a business not a charity. They charge what they do because they know people will pay it. Something is only worth as much as people are willing to pay. If people will pay $35k, then they are going to charge $35k. Some dealers are actually asking over MSRP for 2014's already.
Yeah I guess you're right. Everywhere else EVO's are out or special orders only. And latest Evo for Uk costed a small fortune for a Mitsubishi. But if they're looking to stock out as much of old parts they could've went on fire sale. Oh well as you've said opportunistical loss is minimal so who cares and why bother. Its just that customers are the one on the loss here. Especially the ones that are the biggest supporters of evo's but can't afford a new one.
What I think they fail to consider is that people are more researchy now than they used to be. People will research the brand as a whole, and their constant efforts to illegally void warranties and overcharge will be seen and hurt sales overall.
I don't know about nationally, but around here the Mitsubishi sales people are some of the most uninformed, aggressive and outright deceitful new car sales people I've ever seen. If I was actually on the fence about what car to get I would have went elsewhere. They really need to check out their dealerships more.
I also think it's that they are less worried about bridge burning. Their new line isn't really setup to appeal to the same limited audience as the evo. So at this point they, probably mistakenly, don't see customer loyalty as an asset on a line they intend to drop.

Were you the first owner of your Evo? If so might as well keep it. You can always wrap it with the color you want lol. No point in trading it in really not unless you can find a '14 for a reasonable price.
About $350 in materials to plastidip an evo. Change the color as often or inoften as you want. Go back to stock at anytime. Bonus of being armor for the factory paint.

Other dealers close by have them listed for 42k
My MR was $42k new... but it is a Touring model with nav.
I am at a loss for words about the new base seats. Hey-Seuss that is pathetic... but, how long do you think they will be in the car before the new owner throws in some Recaros...

Those seats are about to be worth some serious bucks to anyone and everyone waiting to buy a 2015 version.
