DDM HID Kit help please.
DDM HID Kit help please.
Hi. Spent the last good while reading over aftermarket HIDs for us halogen guys. I wanted to get an HID kit and hear DDM tuning's one is very popular.
Is this configuration correct?:
35 watt
9006 bulb
color: 4300k
mounting bracket: 35w ballasts
and then don't need the Harness, Eliminator, or adapter cables???
Price is only $29.94??? Do I need anything else??
Thanks sooo much!!

My $.02 from a similar install:
1. Ensure the ballasts have a metal case (mine were el-cheapo plastic and destroyed my radio reception when you had headlights on
) Post up the link to the kit (if you can).
2. Ensure you ground the case of the ballasts to the body near the mounting place.
3. Correct - you don't need a "MIL Eliminator" like BMWs and others require. BUT! If you have day time running lights (and you should) you will need a separate relay that takes the old head light bulb connection, (to relay) and then output to ballasts. This will keep the headlights from flickering. And power the relay (with fuse) directly to the battery positive post. (and ground, of course). A wiring diagram will be needed (and should come with relay kit). I Got the J-ROXX daytime running light eliminator relay kit (J-ROZXX is from another forum and I am not sure if he still makes them).
4. Your HIDs will come on when you turn on your high beams (flash to pass that BMW
) - the issue is that constantly cycling the HIDs (google "hot-strike") will reduce HID bulb life. So avoid 'blinking the highs" when you can.
My bulbs and new metal case ballasts have lasted over four years now... No one "flashes" their high beams from being blinded by my HIDs in the OEM Halogen lenses. I guess I have them adjusted so they won't and yet yield far better lighting than the halogens ever did...
Good luck!

You will need the relay and also I would recommend the retrofit source to get the hid kit. They use metal ballasts and also ive always had problems with ddm bulbs looking to blue in color..

1. I don't see any from DDM that have a metal case. I just went with DDM because it seems to be really popular on this forum, and the ridiculously low price.

2. I looked around, and there is no mentioning of needing to ground the system. Is that an oversight??
3. No DRL's. I have a 2015 and never had them.
4. I heard that a long time ago, like in the year 2000. I thought that was a myth. Good to know! Thank you!
And I hate blue lights.

However, I would recommend not installing HIDs in a halogen reflector housing. I am able to get away with HIDs on my car because it came with halogen projectors.
Hey man, i asked these questions before.. I was going to do the DDM tuning kit but i got scared and backed out lol. I don't really want attempt any of this by myself and i just never got around asking a shop to install them for me because of other projects on the car. Now, i WAS going to get the DDM kit but then i heard of another website that MAY have a better plug and play set up.. But first let me give ya the info you need for the DDM kit.

Now, i said their might be a better choice instead of DDM tuning. It is at http://www.carxenonhidkits.com
I have not had any experience with kit but their was a user on here that said he installed HID kits from http://www.carxenonhidkits.com on 3 of his cars over the years and they were excellent!
I myself have not had the courage to try them... yet. I'm undecided on what route i should take to get these wacked halogen lights out. I would buy a entire HID housing but they are very expensive...

It's a relay harness. The only electrical work you have to do is connect the hot side to the battery and connect the ground to the chassis.

I think I will end up doing the retrofit. Didn't know the HID kit was more involved needing a relay and ground and all that. I wanted to see how the lights would look in the halogen housing, as several have done it and had good results.
Oh man, so much different information on the forum. Someone said we don't need the adapter cable or eliminator. Do you know which eliminator we need? And which duel harness?
Thanks for all the links. I read that one before.. read most of the HID aftermarket threads. Only reason I was thinking ddm was the big following on here.
I agree though, the halogens are terrible. No visibility at all. Thanks again for all your input.
Dude don't let the relay thing scare you its super easy. And the Retrofit Resource also has diy instructions on how to install there products. You can also call them they would explain it all to you. There kits are a little bit more but man im telling you the color is bright white.
