E85 pump

Hello,

I was reading a review via link: http://www.evoxforums.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=324426
that this fuel pump "AEM part 50-1220" is a direct bolt on without remove the OEM housing + filtration). Now if that is the case, is an inline filter necessary as the OEM filter is still present?

That is correct, however I would stay away from AEM pumps as they are garbage. If you want a OEM fitting pump, look at ASNU or Aeromotive.

ASNU FP330E user here. No complaints, work flawlessly. Also stay away from DW pumps. They tend to fail quickly

I've had no issues with a Walbro 450 thus far.

Nice, Thanks for the feedback and yea I'll definitely take a look at those other pumps as mentioned. Would I need a re-tune if I install the pump by itself? My Evo X is currently tune at 311whp with bolt ons.

This was the information given from the gas station near me that supply E-85. Given the information below, does this mean they run E-85 all year long? I heard some say that e-85 goes down during the winter to something like e-70 - e-50?

The ASNU pumps work well we use them in multiple different E85 setups, they are also well priced too. If you do a drop in pump you will not need an extra fuel filter as the stock one is still left intact.

The walbro 450 is a good option if you want the biggest single pump you can drop in the tank, but does require an install kit or some creativity to fit.

Piggy backing on this thread, I have been on an AEM e85 pump since June 2015 with no issues but the stories I read always worry me. If I was tuned on an AEM pump and swap it out for an ASNU unit will I need to retune? I know my wide band will tell me real quick just looking for real life experience.

i'm always a fan of going as big as possible once rather than incrementally upgrading over time and wasting money. If you have plans on going to a bigger turbo in the future and think you might want more power just get a 450 and call it a day.

When they say E85 that doesn't mean that it is 85% ethanol. In the winter the blend is typically lowered to around 70% due to cold start issues.
