No steering whell modification required. Just relace the AWX switch with the radio controls. Rewire the plug under the center console and get the new switch, plate and plugs to relocate the AWC to the center console.

And then everything would just work, no dealership programming required? This might be one of the first things I do. I'm going to really miss the steering wheel audio controls from my '06 Si.

No programming nessesary. The wires reroute the radio function and AWC switch. In, fact I didn't have to reprogram the bluetooth at the dealer. It was just plug and play. I couldn't live without those controls. It is standard on most high end cars for years now.

I wonder how complicated it would be to route the AWC switch to the blank next to the headlight leveler... I kind of like the lil storage cup in the center console
$370 bucks and hands down the best mod to date. Steering wheel was easier than I thought, just took my time till I trimmed it to fit.

I did find out the the AWC switch does snap in beside the leveler switch. All you have to do is extend the factory harness to reach that location and you can keep the coin tray.

That's great. I think this is definately going to be one of the first things I do. You don't happen to know what the factory spec is on retorquing the steering wheel, do you? That's not exactly something I'd want too tight or too loose.

I didn't look it up but put it back to 50' lbs. It is probably torque to yield, so unless you're replacing it that will hold. maybe a dab of blue lock tight for extra insurance.

I ordered all the parts off antics22 (evolution.net) part list and follow his instructions, I made some small changes, he glued one controller on. I made a metal piece to hold mine onto the steering wheel, everything works, steering wheel voice control, New AWC switch, phone (voice control), and the new steering wheel Audio control.
dealer left out one button cover, it will be in Wed.

PS. I did not need the dealer to reset the computer, When I started it up first time the Nav system scan for new software and pick up the phone, and everything else worked.

costs 385.00 + tax CA 8.75%
Time 6 hours
Main issue Changing the pin location in C-31 plug, very hard to get pins out, take your time and a very small screwdriver.

Just completed the install of just the audio controls only. Must say it was a walk in the park and a much needed addition. I have added a couple of pictures and suggestions to help ease with the wire re-configuration of the plug.

The black harness has flaps on each side of the plug that can be lifted up. See picture one for plug with flaps open.

After opening flap, take a small screwdriver (eyeglass size) or pick (as I used) to push down and out on the pin to remove. See picture two for more info.

Picture three shows a close-up of the pin removed.

Hope this helps the next person trying this install.

I just got done doing this mod about 15 MIn's ago. this write up was very helpful. The only thing that was diffrent for me is that to remove the airbag on the steering wheel. It required a T-27 instead of the T-30 mentioned earlier in this thread. Also I didnt have o go to the dealership to get it reprogrammed using the mut Tool as it booted right up after I started up the car.
