I know this thread is old but I'm wondering if anyone has looked into it recently. My dealer wants to charge me $630 for everything. The parts I need are more expensive then what everyone here said they purchased them for.

So - did the prices go way up or is my dealer trying to rip me off?

i doubt the prices would go up, where i am at dealer prices have actually gone down since i bought the car back in april. this is the reason why i have bought my OEM accessories from them.

Yeah, they are upping the price on you.

Should be 540 at the most.

The whole thing was a piece of cake and took an hour or so.

Mine had T-30 torx bolts as per the original instructions, and they were tight as hell.

A big thanks to antics22 for the very helpful how-to, and also to mrdecibel for the helpful detail on moving the pins in the connector under the console!
I'd really like to do the audio only as well. My X came with everything I needed except this. JWA: What was the hardest part? You didn't have to cut anything for audio only, did you?

Also guys, where do I get these parts? How much will audio only cost me?

Thanks!

Hey Cracka, you're going to need to get the steering wheel audio control switch(pt# 8701A193) and the AWC switch(pt# 8610A019) at a minuimum. The only modification for this part of the install is chance the wire in the harness under the center console. If you are on a budget, just extend the harness and the AWC switch can be relocated to the blank position by your headlight adjuster. If not, your gonna need the center consoleswith panel and 2 blanks to substitute your coin tray. Just contact a local Mits dealer's parts department. They can look up the parts and give you prices. Good luck.

found the whole bluetooth setup for $275 (dash mounting). I bought the audio control and awc switch at mitsubishiparts.net or 1 of the mitsubishisuperstores.

Then buy the bluetooth kit off ebay (Sorry guys, thanks to Rguy for pointing that out. The ebay bluetooth kit DOES NOT come with the steering wheel switch.

**Their auction shows the switch coming with the kit. The picture shows the switch and says everything shown in the picture is included. They refunded my money next day.**

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/08-09...mZ320265366448

Then use the 10%off coupon before sept4th: CW8SAVINGS10P

ends up being $276 shipped for everything. Note, I am wiring my awc switch on the dash so there were a few parts i didn't need. Anyone else find it this cheap? Guess I will keep searching!

the part number on that ebay listing is the same as the part number on the 1st page here but the difference is on the ebay listing there is also a picture of the voice control unit so i wonder if it comes with it cuz on the first page of this thread according to antics the voice control is ordered separately.

i also wonder if its possible not to remove the entire steering wheel and only remove the airbag.

I contacted them and you do NOT get the voice control unit that attaches to the steering wheel in that auction.

I will be installing the audio remote only and the AWC switch in the empty spot next to the steering wheel. My dealer is getting me these for $140 total.

Is it tricky to pull the extended wire underneath the wheel column? Where do I open up (at both ends) to stick my hands in?

Thanks!

I'm working on the exact same project and yep putting switch on the dash so gonna extend the harness to make it reach. Shouldn't be too bad.

The grinding took a bit. I wish there were picture of the back of the switch and cover JB welded together. I didn't know whether to go on the outside or inside of the back cover. Decided to go on the outside since the cover for the switch fits best that way.

Haha, I'm doing the opposite. I want just the bluetooth module. I'm just a lazy *** so I don't want to modify the steering wheel to add the bluetooth controls or even the stereo buttons. I'll just activate it from the Nav unit. The parts should be coming in soon so I'll see how it works.

Finally got it all done. How do you sync it? The phone appears on the NAV sreen and when I push it it shows signal strength and battery life at the top but my iphone just searches and searches with no results. Very wierd. Anyone have this problem?
