Night Shade Removal?

To those that have done so, how did you guys remove the tint on tail lights with night shade / tint.

just wanted to hear whether or not it can be done without damaging the clear plastic lense.

remove the "paint" with acetone and soft cloth.

if the acetone slightly clouds the lens surface....it can be brought back to clear

with fine polishing compound.

Whatever you do. Do not use goof off. I ruined my tail lights on my SS trailblazer. It burnt the plastic and left them white.

a friend is discouraging me in buying anything that has been sprayed on with "night shade" he painted his fender signal lights and couldnt remove them properly so he ended up just buying new ones. that is why he is telling me to stay away from these tail lights that were sprayed with night shade.

I used night shade this weekend and used my fiance' acetone in the cabinet to remove it...comes off easy. Night sahde should be ok to use on car if the person did not put more than 3 layers on tails.

I would be careful with the acetone. Some acetones have chemicals that will eat the plastic of the lense. Tried high grit sanding and polishing to take it off

I was not being quick to judge if it came across that way I apologize. I was merely offering a caution about acetone and another allternative. No judgeing just a friendly warning.

Acetone is the chemical that eats plastic. I would never use it on anything plastic that I would like to remain transparent. Didn't you guys ever hear about all those convertibles that had to have their rear plastic windows replaced because they suddenly went opaque, almost as if something happened overnight? Oh... maybe that just happened to my neighbors.

While I have not tried it, ethanol is probably a good solvent to use. Best quality, it won't etch your plastic tails.

I used brake fluid to remove my nightshades. Worked great and I had 5 layers sitting on there.

Tails look just like they did before I put the nightshades on too.
