Servicing Brakes

I'm kind of new into the whole Evo scene, so please be easy. I keep getting a warning light for my brakes and I was wondering if there is a way that I could service the brake system myself. It would be awesome if pics were included. Thanks!

I would imagine that there is a write up on how to service your brakes. I know there is a video on YouTube that covers it. I would use the search function and I would also hit up google/Bing/Whatever. These are good tools to find what you need.

I have to replace my brake lines because the douche that owned my X before me didnt secure the lines away from the wheels. I don"t want to screw it up but I have faith that I can search and find the info i need somewhere on the internet. Congrats on getting an Evo!

When I'm accelerating or cornering hard, my display shows the parking brake symbol and says "CHECK".

I do know that if you have to replace your pads you will throw a cell. Grab a set of calipers and measure the thickness of your pads. Most likely the front is worn down and need to be replaced.

Check your fluid level. Mine was doing that as well and one of the bleeders was seeping (don't know how as I've never touched them). Tightened the bleeder, added fluid, and I've not had a problem since.

There is no way this is correct. I would check your fluid level.

Where and how can I check my fluid? If it is low, is that something I can service myself?

all you gotta do is check the reservoir... if low, simply add with dot 3, 4, or 5... i forgot what we (us evo owners) require.

if it persists, it may be a leak somewhere (ie a line, hose, mc, ets...)

Unless you have a leak, which I doubt, I would not add fluid. If your fluid level is low it means your pads are low, replace them. If you add fluid, when you go to change your pads you will end up having to remove the excess fluid, unless you plan to bleed the system.

I agree, check pads before adding fluid. I use the fluid level to know when pads are low.
