I wouldnt like to call the editors at car magazines "professional" drivers. They test drive the car for a day in some cases then take it to the track for 1-2 runs in the 1/4. 13.4 is a good AVERAGE of what the cars can run but it can be better, dont fool yourself. As someone said, there have been plenty of 13.0-13.2 runs by stock 2005 EVOs. By just adding a $80 hallman mbc, you are in the high 12s no problem. This is of course assuming you can drive the car. Your 60' is very important!

Imagine what I would do with enough power to hit 117mph. I'm glad Uncle Sam is providing you some cash, but if you were smart, you wouldn't dump 18k into the Evo...you'd do something useful with it. The fact you spent 10k already to go 11.9...well, that's sad. [/QUOTE]

do you know what mods i have? no. so how do you know whether i wasted my money or not? so i guess since spending 18k more on my evo is useless
and sad than all the guys who are on top ie buschur, ams, turbo trix, al, topspeed, etc... are not so smart either??? hmmmmmm??? look man just because you can barely afford gas doesn't mean that everyone who spends money on whatever they please doesn't mean they aren, t smart. i work my butt off fighting for freedom everyday over here. my job is to drive around in a vehicle called a buffalo and look for roadside bombs and if i feel like spending a lot of money on my car when i get home that is my perogative. i'm sure most of the readers are tired of hearing what you would do with all that money. the fact is you are jealous. you can't argue that. these are your words. i guess because i paid off all my debt since i was here that wasn't smart too and that i'm building a house is dumb too. you guessed that that guy was getting money from mommy and daddy cause he's in school, but were wrong too. you are very judgementle. go ahead and argue back again with me so you can judge me again. you sure are coming off as the smart person in on this post. maybe i should ask you to tune my car since you are the man. you look good man

Your friend witht he turbo eclipse might be misinformed. Remember, Eclipses all need intercooler upgrades, 2gs need turbo upgrades, injectors, then all the regular bolt ons to get near the 12s. As much as their similar in modding, the EVOs have bigger and better turbos, FMIC, bigger injectors, better MAF, better exhast manifolds, 02s, etc.

Ive spent only $3100 and Im more than sure I can go low 12s. Most people with my power go in the 12.1-12.3 range. Since you have an 03, I reccomend getting a 10.5 turbine housing to help you out some more. Its cheap and effective.
this is a worth while responce not i'm sorry to hear that

You're not a Buschur or TurboTrix, they are shops, and they put money in their cars to win big races and to promote the business. You...are just wasting money. I served my time in the Corps and spent my time overseas, and I appreciate that you are doing it, too. That doesn't make it smart to blow 18k on your car. Building a house is great, but that's where the money should go. Of course, it's your prerogative, but we already see what you accomplished with 10k vs my 1k. Who said I can't afford gas? I make 3-4X as much as I did as a Sergeant, and so does my wife. We can afford gas in my Evo and in her Lexus. I also never said anything about "mommy" or "daddy," but he did say he had just started school and that's why he couldn't do any of his own work. It then changed to him having a house and a wife that he supports, so tell me again how being in school means he can't install his own boost controller if he has his own house? Mmmm, k.

What's your point again? I see that you ignored all that stuff about running 12s and how I'm "stuck" at 12.1 on my stock cams and stock intake. Nevermind the fact that no MR has hit 11s yet, even those with cams and AEM EMS...

Sorry to hear that you've spent 10k to go 11.9 (sadface) and are going to spend another 18k that would be much better spent elsewhere...

Uh...right. Launching is only for teenagers at stop lights.

How someone can make it to the age of 32 without knowing what a launch is escapes me. I think I've known that since I was 8 years old maybe?

No, not yet. I'm not fond of people who somehow have Evos and 5k to blow on mods while being able to afford the car payment, insurance, and all potential repair costs after installing such mods while being in school. Those things don't add up. If and when I get over myself, I may provide further assistance. Until then, view my sig for the first clue...

Yeah, that's one of my runs. That stinkin Topspeed Evo kept double-staging me on the pro tree, so on that run, I ignored the lights and made sure I got a good launch, since it was just a qualifying run. If you notice, I hit a 12.4, but it was at 97mph, haha. I tried to shift to 5th well before the end, and I missed, so I just coasted across the line basically.

What's your point? I still don't see one. What does any of that have to do with spending money wisely and getting the most out of it?

Yeah, I don't remember his name, but the Topspeed driver kept screwing me at the light. I don't know if it was on purpose, or if he was new to the pro tree, but he wasn't providing me the common courtesy of pre-staging before double-staging. I would wait at the line with only my pre-stage lights on while he did his burn out, but then he'd come up and double stage quickly, which screwed me both times. Since it was just in the qualifying rounds, I didn't complain, but it definitely was rude.

The driver himself was cool while we talked in the staging lanes, so no hard feelings, plus the car was awesome. The "stinkin" part was supposed to be in jest, but I guess the term I used wasn't ridiculous enough? I'll put a grin or a wink next time...

the point of the whole spending money thing is that who are you to say what is wise or not? that is it man. to me building my evo has nothing to do with money. if it was cheap to do it all i would too of course, but it is not depending on what you do and how far you go. i'm not doing it to be the fastest but because it is what i enjoy. maybe to you it is ridiculous, but it is not to me at all. we all have opinions about what we should spend money on so why tell someone they are not smart because of what they chose to buy? i just think that is rude. you come off like you know everything by the comments you make and that you are better than everyone. that to me is rude too. i hate bickering on here with people, but i can't help it sometimes cause of what people say to others on here and then when they are in person its all smiles. why dog someone on here for no reason or judge them. this is a public forum and you should know plenty about respect as you were in the corps. i'm not saying i never made rude comments on here, but i don't go around hasseling people for no reason especially people who are getting started.

that guy that was driving the topspeed evo is a very close friend of mine and if you knew anything about him you'd know how great he is to the car world especially for his age. you made a rude comment about him publically that to me wasn't needed. maybe everyone is stupid to you. i don't know. i just think you need to be a bit easier to people on here that's all. to each is own though. take care.

i wasn't try to have this blow up but he does seem upset with everyone. i just don't understand why he comes off like that. i'm glad i'm not alone though. i though we were all free to chose as we please without someone telling us we aren't being smart so easily like it is their business. no biggie though, i have run into many people like that since i've been on here. what really makes me laugh is when i meet them in person and they are all smiles like they aren't rude on the internet. maybe it's just me. take care man.
