yes you do, with a cheap pos that you worked your a#$ for. idealy, a fwd cheap car that you can take to the track and learn how to drive. also, you should take a few driving lessons (skip barber, team oneall etc..) before you jump into a car that can kill you in less than 2 mins.

What do you think the 3000GT FWD car was for? I cant take it up to the tracks because it is closed her in Colorado, Winter. I still have time to take it up to the track and i bought the 3000GT myself. Maybe you should give suggestions of ways to improve your driving skills.

how long have you had your liscence? did you take any driving school lessons? do you have any experience with not so ideal conditions (snow, floods, fog, ice etc..)?

also, you are planning to jump from a fwd underpowerd pig to a fairly light 300hp awd monster. a good choice would be to get something to fill the gap like a wrx so you can learn how to drive awd and get some experience driving turbo charged cars.

but again, it is your life and your money, i can't tell you what to do so i can just give you my 0.02 cents...

Ive had my drivers license for two years ive been through the winter and will be again. Why would i spend money on a wrx and then have to buy another car again? That is a waste of money. My friend has a 13 sec Chevy Camaro and i have drove that before and have raced it, that gives me a little experince of more power. But dont you think that if i was to buy a WRX and then 6 months later have to go and buy another car, waste of time and money in my mind.

ok, it seems to me that your mind is all set so i will wish you good luck. if you feel that 2 years on the road is enough experince and you are ready for an MR than enjoy. as for the WRX being a waste of money, i think that learning how to drive is never a waste of money because it can and will save your life. btw, driving your friend's 13 sec camaro a few times is not exactly what i would call experince with high powered cars

That is exactly what I did, (not so much cuz its was an way to learn, but more cuz my WRX was my first financed car (100% me - no co-signer) and couldn't get the EVO or STi). But I think that owning a WRX first was the best idea and would deffinanly recommend it for anyone else. I also only owned the WRX for 6 month and lost a little money when I traded it in for a EVO, but I believe I gained so much in skill & experance. Another good idea might be to trade your car and a little cash for a AWD 3000GT VR-4 and drive it this winter and get some AWD turbo driving time in. This way you wont lose as much money as the WRX idea (even though I bet you can find a nice used WRX for bout 15k drive it for a bit and sell it for 14-15K)

its not an issue of age or how long someone has had a license that determines if they can handle a car like an evo. for example when i was 18 i had a corvette z06 which ill admit was out of my league at the time (especially for my first manual car) but with patience and a willingness to learn i managed to drive well in that car, even a little above average. yet even coming from that car, when i picked up my evo (about a year later) i had a whole new learning experience. that said, i hope you have more skill and patience with driving than you do with the english language.
