Okay, I guess i'll add something constructive to this train wreck.

I opted to use the heat shield but decided to hammer dowm one of the flaps to the heat shield to alllow air to flow in it from the factory snorkel. I don't know how well it works, but it's better than nothing.

The knocked down flap I mentioned earlier.

Have fun.

i heard that 2.3l blue print engine pushing 500whp will last longer than 350whp on stock bottom end engine ~~~
that is why i post a thread like this~~

get it>?
DO you know what a blueprinted engine means? Blueprinting is building an engine to EXACT specifications. (clearances, etc.)

I would be interested to know the cross dimensional measurement of the stock intake snorkel as compared to how large the compressor inlet is. If there is a mismatch hopefully it is in favor to the stock snorkel being larger.

Interesting reads here, if a mod could delete threads and cleanup some things there is actually a few posts with decent information here. Also nothing wrong with being a ricer...the large wing even if it is proven was laughed at before the EVO on a car of our type...somehow we make it all right in the world. Go figure!

Huh? Not sure what you're laughing at. I help people all the time by doing installations, teaching them how to do installations, performing boost leak tests, explaining dos and donts, flashing their ECU, etc etc. It has nothing to do with sponsors (no "e" in "sponsor"). None of these people pay me, and I don't see how you'd draw a connection between my sponsors and the many people I help both online and in person. I guess you really have no idea what you're talking about?

If they truly lines Warr's wallet then why is he doing a used IX Turbo? Probably because he wants to actually show everybody if it is truly worth it or not. We all know the green will be worth it.

I just got this intake and it is by far the most over engineered mutipieced kit I have ever seen. Has to be 50 seperate parts with this thing.

Any install advice? The instructions are in japanese and the pics are terrible.

Get it installed yet? I did mine last night, took about an hour or so. The hardest part was detaching the MAF from the stock box because of the stupid bolts they used.

I attached all the brackes and heat sheild to the airfilter and adapter first, and then put the MAF on, then i attached the maf back to the intake hose, and started tightening everything else.

I didn't end up bolting down the brace on the back side of the filter closest to the battery because it was imposible to get to, but the bracket in front I was able to get to with an open end wrench.

I used the little silver bracket that was provided to get my boost solenoid down lower, but i really don't know if it was actually needed, i think the stock bracket would have worked fine.

I can take pictures of the finished product if anyone wants.

This weekend I might have some time to take it back apart and snap some pics of the whole process and do a small how to, because i agree with those before, it's a PITA without english instructions.

I know its 2 weeks later, but i just installed mine, and even with the Japanese instructions it was still easy. You have to remove the entire mounting bracket for the old intake box, in doing so, it removes your UICP support. The twisted style bracket mounts to one of the old holes on the frame where the old airbox was, and the other end supports the UICP. The long style L bracket goes on the bottom of the airfilter/MAF towards the battery, and the short L bracket mounts to the front side of the filter/MAF and mounts to the frame through the same hole as the new UICP support bracket. It is actually quite simple. Just look at the picture, and look at your car. Its pretty self explainitory.
