I change my oil without jacks or stands. Just use one of those oil socket type on a rachet and reach back there. Why go through the hassle if you don't have to. Very quick and simple. If your car is lowered than you may have to jack the passenger side or the front up a few inches and just reach back there. You don't need to be sticking your head under the car or anything.

That's what i was thinking, unless you have lowered your car you don't have to do anything but reach under there with car parked on level surface and you will have no problem removing drain plug and filter.

who doesn't lower an evo?

Anyway, ramps are great if you're doing oil changes but I want to be able to swap between my 18" Volks and my stock wheels. Gonna need a jack for that.

Sounds like I need some rubber or some wood.

FYI, I like using hockey pucks between the jack and the jacking pionts... its nice and solid but still has enough give to not wreck the body/paint up.

Me either, stock height is fine for me. Anything lower will start scraping stuff.

I do the same thing. I bought a $0.99 rubber hockey puck at the sporting goods store, and I dremmeled out a 1/2" deep notch down the center of it so that it fits perfectly over the Evo's 4 side jacking points. It also works perfectly with the similar rail-type jacking points on my Honda and my Nissan. YMMV.
