Man, I don't think it is necessary. Just don't shut your engine off right away after boosting hard. Get an accurate oil temp gauge and do a few minutes of cooldown driving(offboost) or idling before shutting your engine off. Sell the timer and get a power mod instead.

It's not necessary, but it's nice to have, just turn off your car, arm and walk away without waiting in your car...
Nothing significantly important, however. It's more on the show side really...but it's cool

Theres no alarm from the factory. The turbo timer is an inexpensive mod that cant do anything but good,so go for it and have the piece of mind.I had them (apexi TT) in both Evo,s and i didnt have to worry about running the car hard a mile from home or wherever i was going and having to wait or drive easy for a couple minutes. I had it set for 1 minute and i got the piece of mind of not worrying about turbo damage due to improper cool down.

Thanks. I'm too lazy to stay in the car while car cools down. I guess i'll keep it. I thought evos come with factory alarm. Just alarm without shock sensor. Most of cars come out like that nowadays. But i could be wrong.

Its true the Evo's don't come with an alarm from the factory, but the keys themselves have a chip in them with a code that is specific to your car, and won't start without it. That's why when you buy the car, it comes with this little silver plate on the key ring that has numbers on it. That's the code when you need to get a replacement in case you lose your keys.

I have one only becuase i bought the car from a guy who had put it on there...

If you dont have one and you have been beating on your car for a significant amount of time.. i would at least let the car run for a few minutes to let it cool off.. just to be safe....

I've got a TT for preventative maintenance. I just let it run in "Auto" mode all of the time. If it thinks that car needs to cool down, thats fine with me and I just walk away. I'm just taking the "better safe than sorry" approach.

i jus got an evo and i thought i can handle cooling it down before shutting it off for the meanwhile since i haven't bought any mods yet. rest assured, i forgot one day and shut it off as soon as i parked it in the garage. now i feel guilty and i'm anxious to buy a turbo timer.
